Let's talk about computers

Yeah, about that…

AMDs ProRender supports “realtime” path tracing (IIRC since 2018)
And if you as a GameDev want Radeon Rays, it is Open Source. Link

When the hell is the Predator X32/Proart Pa32ucg/PG32uqx mini led fald monitors supposed to come out?

Welp looks like on October 8, the new Zen and RDNAs are about to be revealed. Though I am curious on how are AMD’s bikes going to hold up? xD

From Scott Herkelman’s tweet, I am going to speculate AMD was not surprised a single bit by Nvidias performance.

And this here:

the new Zen…u mean Zen 3 or something else?

I’m surprised that at $300, both the cruiser and mountain bike are both sold out.

We’ll see, but hopefully they can pull something out of Radeon to fight back. Don’t think Zen 3 will be getting released until next year though.

well…just got this, an announcement about AMD making an announcement about Zen 3 and RDNA 2 on October 8th.

Nothing other then a general idea as to how something could/should look. They did decide to put a render on a Fortnite Creative Island for people to view. Again, says nothing about performance exactly.
In summary, Buildzoid thought AMD has finally made a decent heatsinks, though not without potential flaws, and is theorizing HBM making a return. Obviously, there’s more, but some key points.

Ive been seeing all the prices go up on reddit I cant justify for myself spending a grand ona new gpu but Im not gonna join the hype train right away , cause we got black friday and boxing day to look forward to

I’m broke…so in no hurry. I can wait for the RX 6000 to land and see what it has to offer.

I really want a GPU for Squadrons.

yeah im on no rush either I just want to play my existing games at a 144 hz at repectable settings @1440 p which my aging 1070 is struggling to do

Buildzoid points out something interesting:
Those screw holes:

These holes ONLY exist on AMD cards with HBM.

These holes only exist on AMD cards with a need for significant memory module cooling, that would apply to GDDR6X as well. The Rx 5000 series used GDDR6 which didn’t need heat up that much, so they didn’t need to clamp the thermal pads down onto them.
