Mid-tower or should i build it for the rack? Could i do it for $500-$1000,
Yeah that’s doable.
What hardware/software should i stick inside the case? Like to collect some 352/192/24 and DSD using foobar, the bulk will be 44/16. Sorry dont know jack about computers first build.
For what you seem to be looking to do I don’t know why you couldn’t do it with a microPC.
I would go with an AMD APU (CPU with integrated graphics). No need for a GPU. Grab an SSD with plenty of storage if you will be storing your library on that PC. Lastly I would get a USB PCIe card like the Matrix Audio Element H for a cleaner USB out (if you will be using USB).
Yes, USB. Thanks! What power supply should i get ?
I would recommend a gold rated seasonic.
Awesome, thanks again. Hifi guides always got the answer.
I’ll recommend some parts if I get some free time. When are you trying to build?
No rush using a cheap laptop now which was a bad idea not getting something with a intel core processor. Kinda plan on building 2, this one for starters then eventually moving it to my 2ch room and building a VR pc for the HT if the GPU prices decide to come down. ive read the GPU market been a thing the past 3 years amplified by everything 2020.
Here is my recent HTPC build:

CPU is an AMD 4700G which isn’t on PCPP yet.
Think im going with a glass case but promise no RGB. That up there is a thing of beauty . Just screams horsepower.
all you Windows Defender users…there’s an interesting glitch that’s surfaced. it’s making a fold full of small files that don’t have much purpose. in the case of the bug on one server, it generated almost 1 million files in a 24 hour period that took up around 30GB of space. it affects Win 10, Server 2012 R2, 2016 and 2019.
just finished mass effect 1 for the first time on the legendary edition and aside forma few performance hiccups on the MAKO on open planets Its really a great look back at games and how they used to be really fun to see the contrast of 4k textures on older models as well as I love seeing how much anti a ton of anti aliasing , improved textures, particle effects, and lighting affects can improve a game. I booted up mass effect 1 on my xbox just to contrast it to what my pc is running and the overall improvement is just awesome. Can’t wait to boot up mass effect 2 though which I have played prior much more recently and I find aged well. especially with the improvents from mass effect1 cause I gotta say mass effect 1 may look better but some gameplay aspects like enemy AI is just rough
Man I loved those games back in the day. However, I am too cheap to pay $60 for a prettier version of the game tbh. I still keep a little flame of hope in my heart that there will be a good sequel to the trilogy at some point, though I’m pretty pessimistic about it.
gorgeous, looks a bit like what xtia is doing, i want to go open case when noctua releases their fanless cpu cooler, i have a fanless PSU still in the box just waiting
Time to get a new case, reason? My little brother needs a better one since his current case is a piece of shit that irates me to this day. It is time for him to experience and see what a capable and a true case is.
I mostly bought to play mass effect 2 and 3 lol cause regardless of how the franchise ends I love the games and is basically my Skyrim where they can keep re releasing the games and I’ll keep buying . But I never played mass effect 1 and know all the hate around it and to experience it without all the BS cause they not only made it prettier they made the mako tolerable, and fixed the UI also added some features in combat that was introduced in mass effect 2
