Let's talk about computers

My main gigabyte issues were with their BIOS which was maddening… ASUS just makes junk for software controls and I don’t need Aura sync to be included in what should be simple fan control software, especially if it randomly updates and flips out on me setting all the fans to 100% power without asking me if I even want to update their junk software.

bro dont get me started with how awful msi dragons center is

You don’t need to. About the only one worse then that is whatever stupid name Corsair is currently using.

lol true. shame cause corsair software used to be half decent before they added more and more features

Funny thing is that MSI also makes afterburner which is honestly not bad software at all. So they do know how to make something decent.

very much so. . I still prefer msi after burner over the asus and evga software that does the same thing cause its the one that has been the most flawless for general gpu control

EVGA’s main issue is their UI design in their GPU software. It actually works pretty good if you are willing to navigate the stupid design decisions in the name of looking cool.

Though I am not personally so I still use Afterburner instead.

evga software actively broke some games not allowing me to play the game lol I vbelieve it was rainbow six siege at the time. asus software is heavier than it should be on the system

The monitoring hooks being detected as cheat software?

Of the 6 computers that I’ve built for myself/family members, I’ve used all ASUS boards from the full range of their product stack. The only issue that I’ve encountered with any of them has been with my current Z490 Hero. Not only did it install completely unneeded software when I had to install AURA Sync to shut off all of the RGB, the fan control also sometimes derps out and I have to go in and tell it go back to the profile I want it on. Beyond those minor annoyances though, I’ve had no complaints.

asus for me have been the same asus has been the most lovely build experiece for me for the most part but more often than not for the features they offer I find them to be overpriced at least here in canada

Yep, for ASUS it is just mainly minor annoyances. But they have started to stack up for me and generally they are a second tier choice for me.

This. I’ve used GPUTweakII, Afterburner, and EVGA’s software at one time or another. I ended up staying with Afterburner because of the UI of the EVGA software.

It might get to that point for me sometime in the future, but I’m so familiar and comfortable with their UEFI that it would probably take quite a few annoyances.

To be fair even though ASUS is a second tier choice my next build is probably going to be on a crosshair VIII dark hero board.

You definitely have to pay the ASUS tax if you go above the TUF line, lol.

If 5900X’s hadn’t been unicorns when I was building my PC this past November I would have used the Crosshair VIII, and probably would have replaced it with the Dark Hero after it came out. But then again, EVGA is also coming out with an X570 Dark, and that makes me happy, too.

The feature set of the crosshair fit my desired use case better then the EVGA.

For me MB priority is Features > clean power delivery > annoyance factor > price.

That’s how I make my judgment as well. Give me my post code, BIOS flashback, fan headers, etc. and an overbuilt VRM and I’ll spend the money.

How many years has it been since they updated that?

No clue but Guru3D maintains it and keeps it up to date pretty well.
