I knew only the name TOOL since an acquaintance of mine in Discord keeps on telling me to give them a listen ALL the time on every chat session we have, that it grew to an annoying level. Since he won’t stop praising about it, I decided to set aside my so called first bad impressions on them due to some avid fans who are in a category of a, let’s say “cult” mindset that forces non-fans to be one and giving them a listen, even though they don’t want to yet.
I must say, wow he’s right although he could have done it in a way where I can be just like “Sure, I’ll give them a listen.” and it would have been fine. Well time for me to explore more of their music, and hey better late than never as they said.

Glad to hear you gave them a chance. TOOL have been one of my favorite bands since the early nineties. And I know what you mean regarding the fans. They can be a bit nuts about the band sometimes, myself included.
