Listening to tonight (Part 2)

As we move into the night, the gears shift. I have been doing a bit of Pineapple Thievin’ as of late. I wanted to really get into the catalog and better understand the body of work. It’s been fun. Right now I am into one that may not be as highly ranked as some, but it’s tasting good to me!

Right on, Dom. Thanks. It’s fun to celebrate life.

Hey, man - that’s all we can do. Appreciate the opportunity that is life and make the best of it! You only truly have one. To the next 36 years, my man :clinking_glasses:

Bought this vinyl LP in 1975…
Check out the entire Like Children album…
A very good recording from Jan Hammer and Jerry Goodman when listening to the original LP…

It’s actually morning here, but I’m just now putting one something that I can chill to. I have the Oriolus Szalayis running off the Cayin N8ii for some listening in bed right now.

For music, I put on my female drummer crush, Anika Nilles, with her 2022 album entitled Opuntia. A solid album full of funky jazz fusion with Anika throwing down some sick beats behind the kit. My crush on her aside, she’s a damn talented drummer, producer, and musician. I got to meet her briefly when we were both endorsees with the same company and she also happens to be a really nice person. Anyways, you guys should definitely check out her catalog and this album is a great place to start. Two thumbs up from your’s truly! :+1::+1::sunglasses:

Decided I needed a session tonight. I found a group I haven’t heard before. Then I find that this is a group full of players I know! The more I listen the more I am liking. Nice break from the PT journey, which I am still on. Also trying the HP-2s on the Liquid Plat. Excellent but very sensitive to the gain control. Excellent, though! Excellent detail, Strong bass, great forward vocals and controlled, unfatiguing treble. Great listen!

If you haven’t heard Flying Colors before then you didn’t pay attention to my recs. I’m a little hurt by that, bro. I mean, I guess we weren’t good friends back then…:pensive::cry::joy: Seriously though, look up the band members for Flying Colors and you’ll stop wondering why they’re so good real quick!

I’m listening to an album rec’d by a guy over on Head-Fi for having some great math rock style modern guitar playing: I Built The Sky - The Zenith Rise. So far I have been pretty impressed by this guy who’s definitely a talented guitar player. Apparently he also does his own producing on a lot of this stuff. :metal::sunglasses:

BTW, currently listening with the HE560 v1s plugged into the Schiit Lyr w 1975 6N23P Reflector Silver Shields and the Modi Multibit 2 decoding all the bits and pieces from my Wiim Mini’s optical out.

I guess I whiffed on that one. Remember, I’m hard of hearing… Some distant brain cell latched onto it because when I saw it something registered, so I spun it up. Immediately I started looking them up, and dots started connecting. Funny how that happens.

Listening on the Oriolus Szalayis and the Cayin N8ii. My reception is getting kinda sketchy where I am on the road right now so I wanted to quickly post a new band that I’m listening to. I found a duo named Jack & Owane on a recent Bandcamp deep dive and I’m listening to their album entitled Guardian Spirits of the Quantum Multiverse. I’m not even all the way through yet, but this is some good stuff. It sounds like math rock meets fusion meets synth rock. Something like Chon with more synth-based interludes and some jazzy guitar solos throughout. They’re definitely worth a listen. :metal::sunglasses:

Hey, I’m listening through my Gryphon for the first time in a while as well. I’m comfy on my futon at the moment so I’m too lazy to get up to grab my DAP. :joy: I have the ThieAudio Excaliburs running off the ifi Gryphon with my phone and UAPP playing DJ.

Currently listening to another new find, The Barock Project an their 2012 offering, Coffee in Neukölln. This band is pretty cool. Neo-prog with a lot of classic prog and art rock influences on an album with some rock opera like tracks to it. This is the first I’ve heard of their stuff, but I’ll be buying their downloads as I continue to explore their catalog.

“Neukölln” reminded me of this oldschool track from west Berlin before the fall of the wall

Pretty entertaining video to watch aswell

Les Dunes - Les Dunes

A local band that just released an instrumental album. Very much a “background music” album, where the songs melt into each other. Perhaps the songs are a bit too similar when you sit down and just listen to the whole album, but i do like the mood they project.

Hey all! SO, yeah, I’m still Pineapple Thievin’! I committed to this jorney, so forward (and backward) through the catalog I’m going. I’m enjoying it. Currently enjoying “Someone here is Missing”

For whatever reason, this one is not grabbin me like some of the others. “Tightly Unwound” was pretty awesome. I really dug “Your Wilderness”. And, for whatever reason, “Dissolution” really got me! So I’m all over the map as far as newer stuff vs older stuff. I seem to be enjoying it all… :sunglasses:
