Listening to tonight (Part 2)

I would have loved to witness Woodstock - even just witnessing the rise of Led Zeppelin in the late 60s would of been amazing.

I could only imagine being 15/16 years old, hearing good times bad times for the first time - gives me chills when I think about it.

It’s funny how much an album cover can create interest. To this day I can remember seeing this album with a very different cover up on the wall in a small record store in El Cajon CA.
Took a while to save up the money, but I finally bought one. I had no idea who or what it was at the time. I definitely do now, and still listen to it some 50 years down the road. BTW I have all of those other albums you listed. Chris Cornell ranks very high on my list of favorite male rock singers.

Chris Cornell is someone I really discovered in my early 20s and I remember being taken back by his vocal performances. Considering his unfortunate death, his songs and his writing hits me particularly hard.

Talking about album covers, in through the out door by Zeppelin was always one of my favorite album covers of all time. There’s almost a story being told by just one picture. I love it.

I miss the days of holding an album and reading the liner notes and lyrics. Now forget about reading all that fine print🤣 Although to this day, I still add lyrics to every foobar file I add. There’s a lot to be said the for convenience of just pressing a button.
Chris’s Songbook album is awesome. I have a thing for acoustic performances. Less is more sometimes.

One of the things I love about Qobuz as a streaming service and for buying is that they often have downloadable copies of liner notes for albums. Liner notes are definitely one of the things I miss most when going digital and they’re one of the reasons I still have an extensive CD/vinyl collection.

When I was younger I used to love picking up a CD on the day the album dropped, throwing on ny stereo, and kicking back reading the liner notes while listening to the album all the way through. Good times and fond memories for sure! :sunglasses::metal:

Edit: To make this topical, I am listening to Spock’s Beard - Brief Nocturnes and Dreamless Sleep. A great neo-prog album!

My personal favorite from Steven. Has a 70s King Crimson vibe at times that I love.

This album is really good!

Since incorporating a sub with 50hz high pass, its like my mains went from 91db @1w/1m to
101db @1w/1m, seriously. It’s way loud now at 12 oclock on the preamp, where it used to be 3 oclock was my listening level. The only thing thats changed is the mains are getting the 50hz high pass. The speaker amp gain is same as before & my preamp gain is the same.
I’m running the Avantone CLA200. I can’t imagine anything sounding better, but tomorrow a Hafler 9505 is supposed to be here, so we will see how that sounds by comparison.
Man this CD has monster bass, & I’m listening with the sub at -12db.
