Terry Manning is one of those rare people that knows how to set up, record, mix & master an album proper.
Another one Terry Manning recorded, mixed & mastered at Compass Point Studios. Unfortunately during the Obama administration the Bahamas became not a safe place to be & so Terry shut down the studio & moved back to the States. For those who don’t know, ACDC Back In Black & so many other great albums were recored at Compass Point Studios, though Terry didn’t start running the studio until 1993. One of the last, if not the last albums recorded there was Iron Maiden, The Final Frontier.
Currently listening to The Righteous Brothers light up my Atriums singing Unchained Melody. When all-time great songs like this come on and I start singing I remember why I like closed backs. My singing voice sucks and as a professional musician I have a good ear so I can tell just how badly it sucks, too lol!
Edit: Attached the wrong pic initially…duh!
Edit 2: Changin to the DCA Stealths for Metallica’s Black Album Remastered Box Set next. To those about to rock, I salute you!
That 9505 is a beast! I used to have one in my home studio setup and let me just say, I hope you have a solid rack system lol! Seriously though, it’s a great amp and it’ll give you super clean power for days. If you don’t mind me asking, what did you get it for?
I’ve wanted one, a 9505, ever since I read about them in print magazines like MIX, ~30 years ago, & I saw what the engineers said working in the studios that had the amps, but back then if I recall, a 9505 was very expensive. Far more than I could afford for sure.
I wanted to be a recording engineer, ~30 years ago, but life got in the way. I saw this amp on Reverb & accidentally bought it. I figure it will become my primary amp in my hifi system. I’m currently using an Avantone CLA200 & honestly it will require something very special to beat it. I got it on a demo deal from Vintage King a few years ago.
Jim Croce always take me back to my childhood…My parents played his albums all of the time…He was taken from us way to young
Love this soundtrack… I use it to focus at work.
DCA Expanse → Ferrum Oor/Hypsos → Holo Audio May KTE → Laptop feeding bit-perfect locally stored files or Qobuz. Right now I’m listening to Anchor Drops Redux by Umphrey’s McGee. I was just introduced to this band and this album about a month ago and I’m really diggin’ their catalog.
Just remembered why I don’t use this tablet for hifiguides. It absolutely will not allow links to be shared from Amazon Music. No copy & paste allowed. Its a POS android Samsung Galaxy view, that I want to destroy on a daily basis like I did my windows vista laptop.
Been listening quite a bit to Øresund Space Collective lately…
Spotify > ifi Zen Dac v2 > Sennheiser HD6XX
I’ve got Amazon Music HD and I find it way easier and quicker to just upload the song from YouTube using the Share > Copy > Paste method.
I also have Samsung galaxy tablet…
You can just keep the Hifiguides and YouTube tabs open and toggle back and forth loading and uploading… Music sound quality of the YouTube videos sucks but I doubt HD sound quality is why we post in these music threads. To me this is just an exploratory music thread base…
