Happy Friday, all. In session, a Rodney Strong Cab poured, fake fireplace and star projector ablaze! Gonna be a fun night. Starting with a little Croz.
Back on the Radiance this evening. They just keep getting better. I’m also enjoying the new pairing.
AMHD > Douk U2 Pro > Schiit Bifrost 2 > Singxer SA-1 Pre > SMSL SP200 > Focal Radiance
And in the spirit of Funky Friday, I crashed into this one. Something different for me for sure, but I am having fun with it. There is a heavy throwback vibe to this! Oh, this lady can sing a little bit, too. Nice tone and style.
These guy’s are a fun listen: King Buffalo…
Kinda’ like a youthful Black Sabbath, with a dash of Kings X and a few others vibe…
2 songs here…It gets better as they progress through the set.
I watched an interview of Bruce Robb at Cherokee Studio now a couple of times, which led me to Jeff Back’s Wired, of 1976. I must say it is a great sounding instrumental recording. My only complaint is Bruce could have mixed the kick drum a a db & a half to couple of db hotter & it would sound even better. The rest of the kit sounds fantastic, especially given its from 1976. I don’t know who played the drums on the album, but I might guess Steve Gadd? I’ve only heard one other Jeff Back album & it was from the mid or late 80s, maybe early 90s. This album from 76 sounds a lot like it. Very Jeff Beck. Wired is on repeat now, AMHD, for the 3rd or 4th go. Really lovely music. Jazz Rock Fusion I guess it is.
