Did my weekly music search and nothing grabbed me. However I bought a package deal a while ago for Stanley Turrentine (Jazz sax player) CD’s and one of the albums (Dearly Beloved) had a lot of organ. Sounded so old school to me (think 60’s to 70’s). Turns out the organ is Shirley Scott (AKA Queen of the Organ) and she was married to Stanley. Anyway, I went hunting and found a few albums that I like. Here is one that I bought:
Listening to Sunday morning while do domestic duties, which hopefully still counts!
For fans of Dream Theater, this is their singers’ (James LaBrie) solo work from last year. Not his first. One of my favourite releases from 2022. He holds back his voice slightly for the most part on this compared to DT and I think it is for the better. More easy listening then metal (DT). And the whole album is very well produced.
Playing from FLAC rip of the CD on laptop via MusicBee, USB to Topping DX3 Pro and then analog to Yamaha RX-V685 amp and onto 25 yr old Mission speakers still going strong.
A blast from the past.
Felling like a Vinyl Jazz night tonight…
Got my trusty upgraded Oracle Delphi MK 2.6
( a MK2 with MK 6 motor, and other new MK 6 bits) C/W vintage Fidelity Research FR64S tonearm
and my 2 year old Rega P6 turntable…
I have both warmed up and running so I can alternate albums back to back fluidly between both tables…
No vinyl, but have some 16/44 FLAC saxophone crossover easy groove jazz playing atm
roon → Sonore ultraRendu → Holo Spring3 KTE → Ferrum Oor/Hypsos → Hifiman Susvara
That guy looks young. I’ve never heard of him but I’ll check out his music, for sure…
The Fragile album I posted is the complete album… You might like it, it’s more jazz / fusion though… They’re a Japanese trio. The 5 album is fairly rare and goes for over $80 used (VG condition) now… Nuts huh?
I just listened to a couple of tracks from Vincent Ingala’s albums… Very talented…
I classify his music as “Get Jiggy Jazz”…
And here we go, Saturday night! Starting off this evening with something a bit avant-garde.
AMHD > Douk U2 Pro > Schiit Bifrost 2 > Singxer SA-1 > LSA HP-2
Ending the weekend with Christian McBride and friends. His collaboration with Sting ‘Consider Me Gone’ on here has such a great laid back vibe for tonight.
Tidal > FiiO Q7 > IE600
Man, I’m gone a few days and we get recs for Pure Reason Revolution, The Aristocrats, and James LaBrie? It’s hard to argue with taste like that. Good picks @AUDave , @Delta9K , and @Raptor168 !
This morning I have the DCA Expanse plugged into the GS-X Mini with the Gustard R26 decoding all the bits and pieces from my laptop/Qobuz.
At the top of my queue is ab album from 2007 by Three entitled The End is Begun. Just a solid rock album with a prog twist and definitely a good listen for something like the Expanse with all the spatial cues and atmospheric effects letting their staging shine through.
Listening to Kendra Morris’s first album from 2010 “Kendra Morris”.
Had a work from home day today, and it was a wild one! It’s amazing what you can do remotely these days. So to blow off a little steam, this one is going. After all day in the revived 660S, I’m back in the Radiance.
AMHD > Douk U2 Pro > Schiit BF2 > Singxer SA-1 pre > SMSL SP200 > Focal Radiance
