Looking at getting a new Amp/Dac

I currently have the THX AAA 887 and the SMSL SU-8 but have been hearing that upgrading my Amp/dac above that would be highly beneficial for me so I am looking into them again.

I have heard the VIOLECTRIC V280 HEADPHONE AMP is great and a huge improvement.
As well as the Schiit Bifrost 2 for my DAC.

Any recommendations? As I plan on this being the last Amp/Dac I buy and only focusing on headphones after that.

Budget for both about $2k or less.
Hoping both the Amp/Dac pair well with eachother as well.

I have no experiences there but i have been trying to solve similar puzzle. And for v280 i got ares ii as dac recomendation.

What are your headphones and sound preferences?

Main headphone I use is ZMF Aeolus. Don’t really have a preference but like Mids/Bass, but also highs that are crisp and clear.

Bifrost 2 is quite possibly the best and safest recommend of a DAC under $700 I can think of. It’s good enough you’ll never want to get rid of it. It’s detailed enough you’ll just be happy with anything in this catagory. It’s warm enough to make anything sound enjoyable. Great choice (commenting on the edit).
