asgard is not balanced so if thats a requirement for you then thats why i suggested jotunheim. if you dont then single ended is more than fine. just whatever you prefer or whatever cables you already have
the lyr3 loves planars. i run my t60rp argons off of mine.
slightly differently tuned hybrid amp with balanced. goes on sale for 600-650$ couple times a year. ive also seen them run it on sale for 500.
pure tube amp that loves planars.
with your budget and love of planars, i would focus more on the amp then the dac.
why balanced? balanced or not balanced, makes no difference to headphones. only matters to the amp.
edit: let me rephrase that: headphones donāt care if there source is balanced or unbalanced, they perform the same.
I just care about the sound quality the most because after a long day of work, i just want to kick back and be immersed in my favorite music, i work 6 times a week lol
How does those two units fair against the Lyr 3?
the liquid platinum(LP for ease in future) has a warmer signature. the tuba kinda the same, but more soundstage then either, but also less juice.
i would recommend patience and wait for either the lyr3 to be back in stock or a LP sale. the tuba has more then enough juice for me, but i listen at volumes much lower then most and virtually never crank it up. it would also dominate your budget. but you also have a dac already. also why i said amp more important in your situation. you might get the new amp with your existing dac and be happy.
edit: the biggest gist i got from your original post was you had to crank your existing setup to max a lot. focus 1 component at a time. after you get an amp, if your still not happy, then a dac may be the answer to finish it.
You got a great point, i think i will wait till the lyr3 to be back in stock, but i will get the bifrost to round it off, since i am always in search of perfect sound for what i want when listening to music, i want to be fully immersed in the music and forget everything to fully relax my body and mind. Also i just bought the Hifiman XS and Ananda, so the 3 months wait, will be well worth it, since i will have more then enough money saved up.
Who knows i might just get both LP and lyr3, of course i will get the LP when itās on sale
sometimes you can find the LP for $400ish used
bifrost and lyr3 is a nice combo
i will definitely be getting this combo, When the Lyr3 comes back in stock.
