Whats a good receiver for a 5.1 setup, budget around $300?
If you want to buy new, the Yamaha RX-V385 is a good fit, but if you look for refurb units you can find really good deals sometimes
You can get quality products from most mass market brands at that price. I’ve had great experiences with Denon, Pioneer, and Yamaha AVRs. Onkyo has had issues in my experience.
What I would do is scour Amazon for a 2018 or 2019 model that they’re selling off to make room for the new 2020 model lines. I got my current Denon for nearly half price that way.

I’m using a Pioneer Elite VSX45. Not the newest but works and sounds great.
