change the pads. they are generic round. it will not effect these much.
edit: and they are 75$ atm, plenty of room for pads in the budget.

hmm, that’s actually interesting then. Got a pad suggestion for them then?
any pads that fit the he-350, will fit these.
don’t forget with hifiman anything, there’s a plastic bracket you take off to attach the pads to.
those are generic. you can use dekoni or brainwavez as well.
edit: i just figured with those pads, total setup is less then 100$
and sorry for the other suggestions, they are all v shaped sounding to me. maybe im just spoiled on great mids lol.
edit: and i agree with your statements of there are not really any v shaped open backs. there really are not many at about any price point. companies tend to design open back as neutral most of the time. like your not aloud to have fun open backs lol
Nah, your fine lol I appreciate it.
Yeah, V signature is my favorite signature which seems to be a bit of a pain in the ass to find. There’s plenty of closed back V signatures just not many open backs. Rather curious as this particular headphone seems to be one of the only ones I have seen with a V signature open back that can use leather pads. I think the issue is that leather pads tend to produce more bass and less treble, though I don’t get why you couldn’t use someting like a Tesla driver or custom tuned planar to do this just in general. If the Sundara could have it’s low end frequency raised quite a bit that would be one hell of a fantastic V signature cause I love the sparkle and detail on the highs of the Sundara
A thought just popped into my head: I wonder if you could tune a set of t50rp to fit this niche? It would probably require a significant time investment on your part, but I bet it could be done.
Depends can you actually make a T50RP an open back? They are semi open back which is alright. I do know you can make them a V signature though, come to think of it this actually didn’t cross my mind. T20rp is the bassier one though so i dunno. I did also consider maybe the shp9500’s but I don’t have any pad swaps I can try on those as they have a really nice high treble but could use a low end frequency bump. Theres quite a few bright sounding hifiman but there not V signature unfortunately lol
Anyone got some clarification on these headphones? T50RP, T20RP, and shp9500s? Can you make them sound to a V signature Wide soundstage using leather pads?
you most certainly can with the tXXrp’s, but even the open are fairly closed sounding. the shp’s no clue, sorry. but if pads fit them, i do not see why not. leather pads trap and increase bass fairly universally. usually does not reduce highs either, just focuses them more. you may loose some “air” to the treble.
edit: stuff like the hd6 series sucks with leather because it focuses the treble to much. the main issue with changing from breathable material to leather, is if the driver they use is bright. they then use pads to let some of the energy escape to tame the treble down.
and with that I am even more curious!
Wonder if anyone here has one of the Txxrp’s and can shoot me a message on those. I already know you can definitely bring those to a V signature the problem I have is the soundstage and accuracy at that point and whether it actually sounds good. If it’s truly closed sounding thats a bit concerning as I like that open sound
Shp9500 I have seen people put leathers on them so I have no clue how they perform but it’s definitely bright. As mentioned earlier theres a potential for the 990s and apparently the 1990s to have a leather type pad and still sound good so I am pretty damn curious on that, 1990s and 990s have my favorite V signature to them but if it remotely kills that sound I would be pissed lol
I think this is why I was really confused when I got aeon open x. You can tell it has bass more so if you use a particular tuning pad setup and you can definitely tell the Treble is raised but has a roll off which seems to keep it tame enough while the mids pretty clean. While I already own the aeon I was curious as to potential budget alternatives as this seems like a very niche grey area and it appears I am right on that as it seems to take modifications just to reach that point. My biggest issue with the aeon open x is that it isn’t a sharp enough V rather it’s more laid back and subtle very relaxed in other words so I want something that’s sharper yet more in budget. At the same time I don’t want to have something like the dt990s where watching podcasts or other stuff in video format is rather fatiguing and sometimes painful to a point lol it gets to a point where it’s nice but it’s TOO fatiguing due to the sharpness so finding that happy medium is my current journey on the V signature. If the 990s are too sharp but the aeons are not sharp enough, but provide me more comfort cause I like leather padding more than velours, than surely there must be a middle ground somewhere.
I know it’s not hard to beat, but T50RPs got twice the soundstage of my HD58Xs.
And yes, T50RPs + Shure 840 pads = big V-shape. (Shure 1540 “velour” pads too – or whatever the number is). They sound accurate (fast), zero mud, can even sound a bit “mechanical”. Excellent for electronic or just energetic music.
would be nice to see a frequency graph of that particular Pad on the T50RP. Any Idea where I can find one? How are the mids and highs? I know the T50RP are a modders favorite headphone though outside the pads im not sure where to start on the mods lol. Wasn’t the Dekoni Blue a V signature too? I know it’s supposed to be bright.
the problem I have with that is that its velour lol. I wanted a leather based pad. Is there a leather pad that can pull a V signature out of the Txxrp?
I woundnt say its intimate. The Aiva’s where intimate. but the sound of the Helios is so hard to pin down. the presentation goes against the intimacy cause it sounds so open
Augh I screwed up. Shure 840 pads, not 1840, sorry!
Corrected the original message too.
Edit: @Antpage2 , if I recommended the 1840 pads for your T50RPs, I was wrong, it’s the 840 not 1840s. Can’t find the message (edit 2: found, and edited, too).
Yes. 1840 are velours (d’oh!).
That’s actually pretty interesting. I could use more info on this now. So, which in your opinion would be better off? T20RP, T50RP, or T60RP? Keep in mind I am a V signature kind of guy. Brightness barily bothers me if at all(I use dt 990s without issues even). I don’t want the mids too recessed but a nice bass and brightness is really nice to have in my opinion. However, if the mids become too recessed then the music just doesn’t sound very good. Also, Can these be ran ampless? just noticed the ohms. I know the argons are picky as all hell and need a strong amp but what about these?
T60RPs are overpriced… I would not buy these.
Nah it’s not that bad. Not bad at all.
Not at all. I recommend one watt (JDS Atom, etc). 500mW might be enough but you won’t have much “headroom” on some low-volume youtube videos etc.
damn, I was hoping to be able to use them on my phone or something when I am out and about lmao. All well.
Alright, yeah I can see the price. So what then? The T50? I know the T20 are the bass cannons but I am not looking for a damn cannon. Also what about the Dekoni Blue?
