Hey everyone.
I’m looking for a headphone with pretty good soundstage and a warmer sound signature. I want a “relaxed” sounding headphone. What are your suggestions for under $500?
I currently have an Atom amp and a gsx1000 (saving the DAC upgrade for down the road). The headphones I use are the 58x, k240 studio and k553 mk ii. Of the three I mainly use the 58x for the comfort and their amazing mids/vocals.
Hey there, so I don’t mind you posting and asking for help but I noticed you have copy pasted that you are looking for help on multiple threads. I think it would benefit you more to creating your own thread post in the headphone discussion area.
Meze 99, Fidelio x2hr, Tygr 300R, Argons, Aeons, Nighthawks/Nightowls(semi open/closed), Fostex TR-x00(purple heart, Mahogany, Ebony. Discontinued but can be still found more linear soundstaging though), KPH30i, Verum One mk2, Emu Teak

Yea sorry about that, I’m really new to this forum. Thanks for being polite about it!
Do the Meze 99 compete with open back headphone soundstage? I heard their sound is what I’m looking for.
Not a chance! These are closed backs after all… they have decent soundstage though but definitely not as deep or wide as the other cans mentioned…
No, unfortunately. It’s more linear if anything. Generally speaking, open backs have a much more open and larger soundstage than a closed back. There are a few exceptions like modded closed fidelio x2hr, modded closed argons(they are generally semi-open), and the closed aeons but even then a lot of open backs just have more staging and sound wider.
