Looking for a serious BLON BL-03 upgrade

Currawong has reviewed them, but he didn’t like them:

But did you ever exhale? I have to know!

*gasp* No! We should never have brought up the Sarda. Already one life has been claimed by its seductive beauty and lethal price. I vote to ban its name from being uttered on this forum again so none shall suffer the same fate!

How would you compare the HA-FDX1 and the OH10 against each other? And what areas do you think each of them best the BL-03?
I know the JVC had swappable filters to tailor the sound, and I’ve heard the Ikko has a weighty sound with strong bass and good imaging.

I see you have the S8Z on the list. I’m also in the market and trying to determine what IEM is going to give me the most value for my dollar in the $400-$600 range. I was originally considering the FH7, Moondrop S8, Fearless Audio S8P and S8F but now that some very positive preliminary impressions by reputable reviewers is emerging on the S8Z I’m seriously consider it.
The S8Z is likely to get an “S” grade” based on preliminary feedback, again, from some very reputable reviewers. It could beat out both the S8P and S8F. These same reviewers are also saying it could potentially top the Moondrop S8 which is no small feat. The Moondrop S8 is a great IEM so it it will be interesting to see which way it goes. Reviews of the S8Z should be popping up soon so you may want to wait and see before you pull the trigger. Oh, and they have tons of faceplate options so you can really personalize them. Some of the faceplate designs are quite nice. Also has a decent cable from what I understand.

Fearless is fast becoming awesome iem manufacture and the S8F was one I considered before finally settling for the FiiO fh7…if you do some search on here you’ll find there’s a fare few fh7 owners, forgive me but I can’t remembering one that has regretted their purchase which says as much or more than an “reviews”?

Yeah I saw that BGGAR seemed to be impressed with them. Curious to see what other opinions come out soon. My biggest decision is whether I want to stay in the sub $300 market or stretch my budget into the $500 range.

$500 can get you some pretty sweet used stuff, in my opinion, one will forever be either upgrading in small increments or will just go flat out and buy a really expensive piece and keep it for ages. The small increments costs more always. You might end up getting 2 or 3 $300 sets when you could have got a used really nice pair if you get what I mean.

What would you consider to be a good $500 investment in used IEMs? I definitely don’t mind buying used. I’ve put together a good bit of my current setup secondhand.

Maybe you could find a Shouer EJ07, or the fearless S8F

Couldn’t agree more about buying used. Just ask lots of questions. Noble Django’s, Westone W60’s, JH audio Angie II’s, Campfire Andros V3, 64 Audio U12’s Adel’s. All purchased on Ebay, all used, all ridiculously good deals and in perfect working condition. I’ve been watching Ebay closely for stuff in the used, $400 - $600 range and at the moment not seeing much, but stuff pops up all the time. There was a pair S8Z’s a couple of days ago but they sold fast. The EJ07’s are supposed to be awesome but I don’t see any used on Ebay or anywhere else at the moment. Nothing in the S8 family currently. Of course, Ebay isn’t the only place to find good used stuff. I know you find good stuff on some of the forums as well.

I’ve had a lot of luck with r/AVExchange on Reddit. You tend to get decent deals on there because people don’t have to deal with Ebay fees.

Ohmboy, I agree. Just a couple of weeks ago I was sure I was going to get the FH7’s not just because of the reviews but also because of all of the positive feed back the casual listener’s were giving. Not to mention everything you get for the price. Great ear tip selection, good cable, they look super cool IMHO, and from what I hear, very comfortable and sound great. It really comes down to personal taste. I currently own the FH5’s and I love them! I’m sure I could be very happy with the FH7’s. That being said, I do watch Crinacles list very closely and have a ton of respect for many of the reviewers on Head-fi, Headfonia, YouTube etc… Too many to mention. I value everything the reviewers and the casual listeners bring to the table for sure.

After seeing the ISN H40 mentioned on another thread by @Chocolate_Bear I started researching and I think this one is definitely in the running for me. Looks like there is some hype starting to build around it. Anybody else have experience them? I’d love to hear some impressions.

I am also interested, I’ve been following the post in headfi, but already have OH10 and Tri i3 so I dont know if it will be worth.

Not sure.
I still think the FH7 would be good. Or OH-10.

both of these are interesting to me. The OH10 everyone seems to love but I’m concerned they may be too similar to the it03’s that I just got. Although @M0N has and enjoys both.

To me it seems like the FH7’s seem to be the standard king in their price range similar to the way people view something like the 6XX. Although for me personally having 400+ IEMs is a little scary because I only use them when I’m out increasing the chance to get lost/stolen. But I’ve really only seen postive buzz about them.

I actually sold my oh10’s recently if that means anything lol

I am not in love with mine either…
