@M0N Yes, this is what I am looking for, a fun pair of headphones that just makes music shine. I could care less about all the micro-detail and all the other stuff, sure, it’s nice, but if I don’t enjoy sitting back and just listening without getting fatigued what is the point ya know.
So just to tease, if you could care less about the micro detail, do you not enjoy the extra lower level detail the arya has to offer? Would you want to stick to something with mainly only surface level detail like the aeolus?
Aeolus was nice, but was way too veiled and everything was kind of pushed back away from me. Don’t get me wrong, the Arya has nicer detail that I am noticing now over the Aeolus and I do like it, but the biggest factor is it doesn’t sound like someone is across the room singing to me, it feels more in my ear, which is odd since the Arya has a bigger sound stage, maybe the planar difference? Idk personally.
So I think this would come from having an amp that lacks a bit spatially (the thx), and also the more forward presentation. It shouldn’t sound in your ear all the time, but should change depending on the recording, as for most higher end headphones the soundstage and spatial recreation will change depending on the track, but I also think your amp and dac are also acting as a limiting factor here
Yeah, which is why I am now on the waiting game on both… but, i’m cool with it changing per track as it is supposed to, it just seemed like the Aeolus was always in the background with it. Never noticed it when I used it, but once I used the Arya it became clear.
Yeah for now it will just be an adjustment you will end up making, the arya is quite a different headphone from an aeolus for sure
I didn’t read the whole thread and you are wanting headphones, but something you can look into is the Campfire Andromeda. It is an IEM, but when I went to RMAF in 2018/2019, I listened to a lot of great sounding headphones. But after listening to so many, they all just sound great and that’s about it. Slight tweaks here and there, but the sound of all of them started to blend together for me and not much was a stand out to me. When I heard the Andromeda, it just sounded perfect and different at the same time. Not sure how to describe it, but it was just a unique sounding experience that made my music sound so enjoyable to listen to. I brought a friend to that show and he was only interested in trying some audio gear and wondering why I keep talking about nice headphones and was definitely not going to buy anything since headphones are too expensive for him. He bought the Andromeda on the spot.
If you are wanting a headphone though, one that wowed me was the Meze Empyrean, but it is $2,999 which about your cutoff.
K-Pop, KPOP, KPOP??? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS there aren’t many of us here lol. forgive me for my excitement but it’s not common around these areas
Alright. I did it, Bought the Verite Closed (Now 5-10 week wait.) , as I sold my Aeolus so it offset the cost some and I was researching all yesterday and last night. Can you recommend a good tube amp with em? Since I assume a tube amp is paired best with them.
Congrats, should be pretty sweet
What price range you thinking lol? Assuming new not used?
Dang, it’s like you know me or something. Yes, New, preferably $1k or under, but not sure how that would translate to the price/range of the Verite Closed.
Hmmmm. I think you would ideally want to be around the 1.5-2k range if you wanted to maximize performance I think
So more than your budget but imo reasonable might be a linear tube audio mz2 with the lps+ power supply or a Dragon inspire iha1. I would mention more but I think it would go too high in price
In the sub to 1k range, the tuba is still pretty solid if you wanted neutral, if you wanted something a bit warmer and more relaxed you could go with a cayin ha-1a, or perhaps a line magnetic lm-mini-84IA, if you wanted warmer more energetic perhaps a bottlehead crackatowa
You said 1.5-2k to maximize, list that one, as I would just wait an extra week then cop that if it is that big of a jump over the Tuba or such.
Gotcha, in that case my picks are the mz2 with the upgraded power supply or the iha-1, as imo both of those are more neutral with a side of fun, and would pair well with the verite. Both are also not super dac sensitive so you would be fine with the bifrost 2 for the time being. They should be able to be had for under 2k I think
The pendant combo deal is hard to beat, I’m sure if you contact Zach he’ll give you the discount.
Different tube recommendation with em?
Is that one as good or better than the other ones in the same price range?
The pendant is a really good tube amp for the price point even without the discount.
The one caveat is the A&S amps are very sensitive to RF noise, and the Verites make that more obvious.
Also pretty true, not sure why I always forget about the pendant lol, pretty great pairing with the verite (as it’s made to be)
Stick with stock for the time being, or both on moon audio and lta you can just choose a nos tube option
