my current set up is jds lab atom + topping e30 + hd660s
what amp should i upgrade to?
What price range are you looking for?
why do you need a new amp? the Atom is a great amp.
What do you want to change about the current performance?
this is a good question.
also, my previous post sounds harsh and that was not intended.
My budget would be $500
i got some budget so i want to upgrade my gear but i don’t sure that which one should i change and i’m also want to try amp with xlr.
Is xlr would make any different from my current setting?
If you’re set on XLR (balanced), you’ll want to pursue a balanced DAC as well. Do you have the 4.4mm Pentaconn cable with your Sennheiser? If so, and if the target amp you get has that termination, you’re good. Otherwise, you’ll need a new cable or adapter. You have sufficient power for your headphones at present. Is there a change to the sound that you’d like to make? Where do you live, what is accessible to you? Personally, if I were in your shoes where I live(not knowing some things here), I’d buy a Modius/Magnius stack and a Hart Cable w/kit for adaptability. If you want any change in sound, new cans will obviously be a bigger change.
Balanced vs Single Ended generally doesn’t matter as much as the design and implementation associated. If an amp has both, generally the balanced is better because that’s where the design effort was focused and is more costly.
What would you want to change about your current setup as far as how it sounds?
I would look at upgrading to something like the Geshelli Lab’s new JNOG DAC and their Archel 2 Pro GMR and / or Archel 2.5 Pro AMP.
