Looking for new headphone recommendations 200-500

Totally agree. I think it’s really well done. In my opinion better staging than the Beyerdynamic Dt1990.

It seems like it was discontinued. Harder for me to give it a try

Oh wow thanks! And a good ole 30 day return policy xD

The he560 v1 is also a similar step up, but is more refined and less fun than the 4xx and 5se. I think if you want more business the 560v1 is the way to go and if you want more fun the 5se is the way to go

The ananda and edition xx would be an upgrade but more of a different path with their presentation and sound

Whichever is closest to the Elex in that manner. Pretty much on point for sound signature for me. Just always chasing that soundstage.

I do think an he6se would be something you would really enjoy, but while you may be able to still snag the headphone for 700 usd you would want to spend like 3k on a speaker amp lol

I don’t think they are too similar to the elex tbh. Also for both the 560v1 and 5se you would want to buy a schiit asgard 3 or equally powerful amp

Sounds like a great thing to check into for the future  lol

As for now, I just have to decide on a new cable for the Elex I’m definitely keeping, and finally decide if I want to keep the 58x as well since for whatever reason I seem to like them better for specifically classical music.:thinking:

But today really confirmed how well my Fiio M6 works with different headphones.

Well that’s good that you enjoy the elex :+1:

I can tell you that the he5se or he560 would not be a satisfactory experience on the m6 lol

Also thinking a bit more, I think you might like the he5se more than the 560v1

With the ananda tho I do think you might be able to get away with the m6 as the amp (possibly)

It was pretty cool today to hear how horrible the HD800 was with it, and then how much better with an amp they were.

Also conspiracy time: I don’t think the clear pads are the same as the Elex pads. The ones on the clear seemed a tiny bit sturdier to me today.

Yeah the clear pads are different from the elex pads

Also the hd800 is very very amp dependent, very picky headphones

I knew it! People say they’re the same.

Yeah they’re not. Putting clear pads on the elex does not make it a clear either lol. The clear is a change in sound signature and a step up in technicalities

I didn’t like them all that much with the mojo which is what I would probably use so :man_shrugging:

I would still put the clear pads on the Elex personally if I need a replacement because I thought they felt better.

I do prefer the material, and it’s not like the sound gets bad or anything either so yeah its a viable replacement but the clear pads alone are like $200.

At that point you could probably get a used clear (or new if you are lucky) for the cost of an elex and the clear pads

Yeah that would just be for if I need a replacement in the future.

Btw I seem to be having a hard time finding a replacement cable that ends in a 3.5mm so I don’t need an adapter anymore. Do you know of anything? Something like the 58x cable but without the weird Sennheiser connection.

You can get custom cables, from Hart with whatever connector you want.
They are very reasonably priced.
