All the more reason to return them.
Well, I guess that makes it an easier decision lol
Just curious since you were initially looking for a wide soundstage, what did you think of the soundstage of the 1990
I honestly found the Elex to have the same soundstage as a whole without the three blob issue. Elex was more immersive in that way. I think the way Josh V compared them in his video was pretty accurate.
Elex tended to be the one to put me inside the music like the way the Hd800 does.
Interestingly he has a comparison video with the HD800 as well, and for the Elex and HD800 he draws a circle. Whereas with the 1990 he draws a V type shape
I think now it comes down to comparing the Elex to the HD800s for me. I’ll either keep the Elex alone if I like it more, or save up for the 800s and hold on to the 58x in the meantime.
Those were honestly the only two that reproduced the music actually imo.
Finally figured out how to get the pads back on the Dt1990.
These are starting to grow on me.
Lol, that might improve them. What pads do you prefer so far?
Well, I haven’t had enough time to compare yet. Using the ones with 4 holes that are softer now.
What are they called again?
I find that the “cocaine treble” hasn’t gone away with these pads though.
I think the one with more holes is the Balanced pad which has more bass and the one with less holes is the Analytical which are the more studio flatter pads
Using the 4 hole analytical pads now then.
These headphones are almost my favorite. I just want them to give me less of a headache and have more bass presence.
I like the way they fit a lot more than the Elex.
Perhaps see what you think with the balanced pads if you want more bass
Yeah beyers have a pretty much tried and true comfort design like the hd58x or other hd6 series headphone. Just great build and comfort
I’m half tempted to get dekoni pads and keep them, but it’s hard when the Focal is already perfect…
it’s just that!!!
Hmmm decisions decisions lol. So you like the elex the most, have you decided on a 2nd place?
Also I forget to say, if you use the Beyer’s more, let them burn in and get some heavy use out of them and the treble will calm down a bit imo
Second place overall would probably be the Beyer or the 58x.
Those are the only two that can accurately recreate sound in my opinion with the 58x having a slight edge in that, but the Beyer being more detailed and more “fun” in the treble way.
Sooo after a month of waiting, after all of the other headphones I ordered came and were returned and refunded, the HE4xx finally came. And I have to admit that for the price I think these are HIGHLY underrated. They are comfortable, have an honestly amazing soundstage (was listening to the HD800 finally earlier today.)
I definitely like these better than the M570, the LCD1 and the Vokyl Erupts. They match up better with the Beyer and the 58x.
I’d actually be curious what the premium version of this headphone would be.
Also random note, I got to try out a bunch of different headphones at the store today. The HD800 was absolutely horrible on my DAP and didn’t blow me away like it used to. The DESIGN is the best imo. Give my the Focal Driver in that plastic beauty that has tons of wiggle room for my ears and lightly sits on my head and that’d be perfection for me.
Also LCD 2 closed back is badass
So the upgraded 4xx per se is the he5se imo, also so it seems like you enjoy the 4xx.
Looking that one up now. I actually haven’t heard of it.
Still interested in the Ananda too.
Yeah I am surprised by it. If it had more detail and whatever it is that the Elex has that makes say deep cello or classical bass sound so good then it’d be a real winner. Also I think I am subtly getting spoiled by that so called “dynamic range.”
the 4xx for me was also one of the more immidiate surprises for me intermsof how intruiging itcan be the way it stages and layers sounds really interesting to me
The ananda is an upgrade, but in a different way , whereas the 5se is more of a direct upgrade. But you would want to get something like the schiit asgard 3 if you went towards the hifiman route
