Just wondering, do they specifically mention why?
“20 dollars more you can get the 250 ohm version. They recommended because the 600 ohm gray was a little cheaper.
The 600 ohm should work, but I have never tried to drive 600 ohm loads and so I have no idea how it changes the demand on the amp.
One thing you will end up hating about these headphones is that the cable is built in. It will be the first thing to fail so be gentle.”
So, in my personal experience, the 600 ohm is more refined, more detailed, and also is better at recreating space than the 250 ohm, it is seriously a higher preforming headphone than the 250 ohm, typically higher impedance doesn’t equal better sound, but in the case of the dt880, this is the case. Also the 600 ohm is actually typically more expensive than the 250 ohm, it’s a fluke it’s on sale at the moment which is even better
Regarding the cable, the attached cable is a downside, but personally I know very few who have had issues with the cable breaking easily, I’ve had my beyers easily over 10 years now and they are in great condition
Yeah, I really like the asgard 3, really sweet. The older asgard 2 was pretty bad imo, but they completely redid it with the asgard 3, really like it now. I do think it would be higher preforming than the spark, but that does just push budget higher here
What’s do you think about the 6xxs from drop with the asgard? AK4490 DAC?
For the music you listen to, I don’t personally think the 6xx is a good match, also imo it doesn’t preform well in fps games either. I would say instead of getting the internal dac inside the asgard 3, I would grab a topping e30 as imo it’s a higher quality dac to my ears, and also that makes it a bit more versatile in terms of upgradability.
So what would be the best headset paired with the asgard 3 and the e30?
Well, what budget are you thinking for the headphones? Also would you no longer need the mic then? Or just run the modmic off the motherboard (which would work just fine)?
Yeah I would still I need a mic like I’m willing to push my budget to like $650 maybe even $700 tops. But like I’m gonna need to have a real good setup like orgasm in my ears playing everything lol.
Just curious, what headphones do you have currently?
Currently using Corsair Void Elite Gaming headset, previously owned the sennheiser game zeros I loved the sennheisers.
Like what if I get the asgard 3, then the scarlett 3i3, with the same microphone u had sent earlier just swapping the monolith for the asgard 3
Gotcha. Well, for what you are after, I would say keeping things reasonable would be a topping e30 + an asgard 3 + a hifiman sundara, but that would most likely be really pushing the budget.
This would be really sweet, if you wanted to, you could also wait for the scarlett solo to come back in stock as you don’t really need the extra mic in of the 2i2 and it would save you some money as well.
I think I’m going to go with the hiffman sundara, asgard 3, and e30 option, sweetwater does have the scarlett solo 3rd gen for $110 though. Probably going to have to use a Modmic for now though lol.
That would be pretty sweet, a good blend imo
That def is a future option for sure
So the E30 is better than the scarlett solo?
The sundaras are back ordered but I saw them on amazon.
Dac wise yes imo, but not by a large margin. The scarlett is mainly an audio interface first, so it is more mic focused, but does still have a pretty decent dac in there.
So would this be fine paired with the asgard 3 and E30?
I’m not going to be able to get a XLR microphone since I’m going to be out of my budget.
So it’s currently on backorder at the moment, but you could grab a behringer um2 and that other mic I mentioned for under 100 bucks, and it would still sound pretty good imo. Otherwise if you want something now this would work just fine
Also something I should note, I do like the sundaras alot, but I also don’t think they preform as well for gaming as the 880 600, but I think the sundara is most likely the superior music headphone from my experience (but the sundaras game well too imo, just not as good as the beyers imo)
I just want something that’s like good for both gaming and music without breaking the bank. I feel like my head is gonna explode theres so much things to choose from lol. Like my budget is really $650 tops, I dont mind using a antlion Modmic for now until I get s real XLR but I would want something that could take XLR atm, so I can be a little bit future proof. Like the sennheiser game zeros I had were perfect for gaming but I want to delve more into music. Obviously gaming is my priority because I want something with good spatial sound, but I also love me some music. So I’m just torn and dont really know what to buy.
