I have deiced to transition over to a mech after my Logitech G19s died (that did last a long time). Right now I have a Unicomp Ultra Classic and a Varmilo VA87M
Granted, this was also before I had given my DAC-X6 and HD559 to my grandfather, but it didn’t matter what USB cable I used, what headphone I monitored with, what headphone I listened to it with in post, if I listened from the UM2 or the X6, I always got the same issue.
I’ve found it difficult to use any keyboard that’s not mechanical. The feel just isn’t right to me, and I feel like I’m typing slower.
Yeah, it sounds like you may have had a messed up um2 (or some ground loop issues)
Lol I still really like membrane, and wanted to get a topre keyboard but didn’t want to spend that much. I mainly have the unicomp because someone gave it to me and I recently just got the Varmilo with clears (including a switch that I proceeded to destroy when I took off a keycap)
Interesting. The only phones I have ever had that were tanks ended up being samsungs. I haven’t switched yet over 10yrs. Samsung rogue, s2, note 4, now s9+ for the past yr and half. Never have had an issue. Never had had a screen crack. To each his own I suppose.
I know that im really late to this thread but you may just be the person to ask as I have been searching and searching for an answer for days with no luck… with that said im sorry to bother you…
Im getting DT 990 pro 250 ohms and a magni heresy… I am getting the same mic you suggested here and probably the scarlet solo as ive been looking at that… the problem ive run into is I dont know how to run the stack… do I need to go from the solos single headphone input to the magni amp or the 2 rca outputs on the back of the scarlet solo to the 1/4 monitor inputs on the back of the magni? ive read different things different places… some say it wont work. some say it will. some say it will cause biamping and others say I dont need the Magni and that the scarlett solo will push the 250 ohm DT990s… any knowledge you could bestow upon me would be amazing… thanks again
All you need are 1/4 inch TS to rca cables with the focusrite
You will be taking the line out of the focusrite so not double amping, just getting a dac out of the interface, just close to max the monitor out on the focusrite and you will be good to go
Could I also do the same with the Uphoria UM2 and the headphone amp? ive read about a lot of driver issues with the focusrite. Thank you again
Yes you could, although the um2 has rca outs so it would only need a regular rca cable to connect the amp and interface. Also imo focusrite has extremely solid driver and software support from my experience, moreso than the behringer
Ok cool, thanks. I’m only going to be using the mic for gaming with friends and very light streaming so I was looking at the um2 to save a little money.
Gotcha, then the um2 is an easy pick for the price imo
Upon further research, they are sold out everywhere… So I’m thinking for now I’m going to do the schiit modi and magni, then get a dynamic mic with a XLR to USB cable until I’m ready to upgrade the whole audio setup again or I don’t like the XLR to USB.
Actually, it will be the same price almost to do the Scarlett solo and the magni bc I wouldn’t need to buy a dac
Most interfaces are, when covid hit that stuff started evaporating lol
That’s correct
So I think I read that a the focusrite scarlett series can power up to about 200ohms headphones. So I think im gonna drop from the 250 ohm to the 80ohm DT 990s and just get the scarlett solo.
You could do that, but you would be taking a significant hit in sound quality imo, both from dropping down to the 80 ohm and also using the focusrite amp which is mediocre at best imo
dang, ok thanks…
