Looking to get my first audio setup

The bass is alright on them won’t blow your min. But it’s nice balanced I believe the main feature of the can that really need more focus are the mids. As if you really need bass look elsewhere but if mids are your thing this is really it at this price range

I’m hoping I don’t run into that issue. I would be disappointed if I had to mod my headphones to get good results. Have you tried the 4xx’s? I’m still trying to decide if I want to get a second set of headphones to compare.

The 58X gonna sound good out of the box, no worries, everyone that has them can confirm that

So what’s this talk of bad fit bad sound, and crushing pads? Is this just one dude had a bad experience?

Well with most headphones, if you don’t get a good seal with the pads, it won’t sound very good. The 58x pads might be a bit stiff but it really is only a concern in the beginning and if you have glasses or something

Ye you won’t have issues with the 58X as they have large pads and the clamping force is pretty strong to create a proper seal.

The only issue could be that they might be too tight on your head :man_shrugging: which can be solved with some stretching

Well I do have glasses but I usually wear contacts. I’m just concerned about that really long quote that @LeDechaine posted. In the end it says it’s worth it, but the first paragraph basically says that there can be a ton of variance. They are already on the way so I guess it doesn’t matter much.

I am still considering the 4xx’s too but I haven’t made that decision yet

I don’t think there is a ton of variance on the 58x from the multiple pairs I have tried. It just sounds like @LeDechaine has a unique head shape lol

Fun fact: the 58X are now being made in my country (Romania)

Well that does make me feel better. I’ll keep posting here once I get my headphones probably next week and let you know how my experience goes.

yep I believe same factory as the 660.

I have a large ass head and medium large ears and have no trouble with Sennheiser headphones. I had to bend the headband a bit , but no issue. There is a proper way to bend the headband and Tyll covered it in one of his videos.

You fully extend the headband and use your thumbs to bend the metal I think, works for me if you want to lessen the clamp

If I find I have issues I’ll look for a solution. I’m really hoping for an out of the box plug and play though. I’m too new to feel comfortable doing any kind of adjustments beyond the designed ones

It was very plug and play for me and most people I talk to, might take a day or two to get fully used to the signature (but it depends on the person)

Awesome! Do you know how long the cables are? My computer is actually relatively far from where I sit. Do long cables cause any issues?

Cable is like 5 feet, so actually somewhat portable for the 58x. I would suggest keeping cables under 10 feet (and even then only if you really need it)

If you wanted a longer cable, you can get like a 10 foot cable from senn for a good price

10 feet would be plenty. Probably can use the cables for the dac and amp to give me a little bit of distance if I have to. Where would I go to make sure to get high quality cables if I want to replace them?

I linked a sennheier one above, so that would work for sure, but you might also need a 1/4 inch to 3.5 mm like this

There is also this cable which looks pretty nice too:

Are OEM cables generally the way to go or are there other high quality brands that I should look for? Also are there super generic brands that should be avoided entirely?
