Looking to get my first audio setup

Dms didn’t help. He made me want both >.<

Do itttttttttttttttt

They are different enough that you can def own both and not really have a whole lot of overlap

To offset the cost, don’t buy the topping d10 and run the atom from your motherboard line out and pick up a d10 later when you have the funds

Is my Mobo good enough? Will the quality suffer? Because I’ve said it before, I’ll break budget for the right reasons, to an extent

I think your motherboard prob has decent enough line outs to get the job done. If you wanted to break the budget you could (well it would be just at budget) and pick up the d10 as well lol for full effect. The 4xx is pretty sweet for movies imo. The 4xx is the jam out wow can and the 58x is also that but more relaxed and chill. You would pretty much have your bases covered unless you wanted to get into music production

Yeah I won’t spend 1000 if my budget is 500 but I might push 550 for good enough cause. And we’re still technically within the budget I set for myself. Even with 2 pairs of cans

I don’t think production is my cup of tea. I like music, I have an ear for language, to an extent, kinda been lost over time to atrophy, but I’ve never been a musician

I mean, it’s good to have some variety lol. I think you could get usage out of both for different situations imo…

Variety huh? Your collection implies that you subscribe to that philosophy very strongly lol

Well, I also know people who decide on one or two and just be done and are extremely satisfied lol, I just really like having options

I feel like I could end up there if I’m not careful…

Perhaps, but typically people don’t get THAT addicted lol

I found the upper mids and treble on the he-400i to be uneven and peaky. Of course, I prefer a warm sound so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. The Sundara are much more even and they go on sale frequently.

Yeah, I would suggest trying the 4xx before moving to something like the sundara right away to make sure they would like that signature.

On my PC, I use my Optical Toslink out as I don’t like messing with USB, which is why the Geshelli Labs Enog2 Pro was perfect for me.

If I bundle the drop O2 amp it’s only 80. How does it compare to the atom?

I personally think the atom is the better amp, and worth the extra cost to me. The o2 is a little old at this point and I think the atom does a better job for the price. The o2 isn’t bad, but I think the atom is worth it

Agree. The Atom sounds like it should be a $500 amp. Crazy it’s only $99.

Uh oh. The 6xx are up on drop too…are they worth 60 over the 58x?

Now that’s a different sound imo. I think it really depends. The 6xx have the more neutral signature that’s honestly more of an acquired taste. Since you are just starting, I still think the 58x is the way to go with what you listen to. The 6xx is rolled off in the bass and treble, with a great midrange but some may find it boring or sometimes unenjoyable with certain genre of music. The 58x is better extended in bass and treble and also have a more energetic sound imo

Ok thanks I figured they would be similar to the 660s but I guess a little bit different
