Looking to spice things up

So I’ve got my decent variety of headphones but I’m looking for something “different” around the 200-400$ range So I’d love any suggestion you guys have

One note - preferably available on Amazon, i live outside the US and getting stuff from other site is a giant pain in the arse

right now I’ve got the

  • Zeus
  • T60 RP (pad swapped but not Argons)
  • Meze 99 Neo
  • Koss KPH30I
  • Sivga 006 (OG with pad swapped)
  • Grado SR80E (pad swapped)
  • HIFIMAN 400 SE

as far as amps/dacs
Iv’e got an IFI stack (Zen Dac + Can)
Topping E30 + Topping A50S

1More H1707, that piezo and passive bass reflector are very unique sounding.

what do you have for headphones and what kind of music do you listen to?

knowing those details will let us see what kind of sound you are familiar with so we can suggest something new / different / spicy

Hard to nail down but i love a good beat, regardless of genre blues, rock, edm,R&B but even stuff like classical can work.

I believe that list above is what he currently has, but might have read that wrong. I’ve been off a few times today

Focal…you need to get the Elegia, or better if you’re willing to budget as they do get much better as you go up the line.

I was afraid you might temp me to go over budget… and yea iv’e been eyeing the Elegia (500$ on amazon as of now) for a while now, but im holding off, at least for now, maybe when i get some breathing room on the budget or i get a big client

you can get deals used and Adorama is always having them on promo too.

also, since you have the Zen stack, you could look at one of the Senn HD600 / 650 or 660s. I say this as these headphones like warmth and the Zen is warm. you’d have to get a balanced cable as only the balanced output would be able to drive them well enought.

and…they say the Grado sound has been seriously altered for the new X series, so you couuld grabe the new 80x and see what they’re like against the e you already have.

One: Stop tempting me!
Two: Adorama doesn’t ship outside the US

where do you live?

Israel, so Amazon is just about the only safe (and affordable ) options

what are your import laws like? while I haven’t had anything shipped truly international in a long time, I use friends in the US to get stuff to me in Canada when the shipping quoted is ridonkulous.

the import taxes arent the problem most of the time, its the shipping companies that screw you over with BS charges. i’ll give you example, i ordered a bunch of Hart Audio cables, 120$ + 35$ shipping (expensive for a package under 1Kg but im used to it), what i didnt expect was DHL adding another 60$ of additional charges (non of which where tax).

yes…brokerage charges, which are hyper inflated and BS. I’d take a look into how to do brokerage paperwork yourself, it could save you a mint!

The problem is that you have either the local mail which is horrible (losing packages delays of weeks etc) or FedEx and DHL which basically screw you over. The reason I use amazon is that they basically force shipment compies to certain rates, which covers my ass (also the return policy is a nice bonus)

I’m thinking a much bigger picture…where you do all the shipping arrangements yourself, and select the option that you will do the brokerage administration.

if you have friends in the US…or UK, etc, you can probably take advantage of the resellers free shipping to them and then book with the courier of choice and either do the brokerage stuff yourself or use a cheap brokerage service to do the paperwork.
