Hi guys, I’ve been using my Alpha’s since 2018 and i’m searching for something better than gaming headset, because HyperX high’s are not as crispy and clear as i would like them to be.
My budget for a new pair of headphones is 150€ and 100€ for DAC/AMP combo.
I want stick to closed back headphones.
I don’t need mic.
Headphones must be really comfortable because i will wear them for like 6h+ every day.
I think i want something similar to my current headphones but with way better high’s so i
think i would like a V-shaped headphones the best.
I was thinking about getting DT770 Pro’s 80ohm (not 250ohm because i would prefer straight cable and im not sure if difference’s in sound are huge and worth forcing myself into using coiled cable) + Fiio E10K
If you guys have any suggestions, I would gladly appreciate them.
I think you’re on the right track with the 770’s. They are the go to option if you’re talking about gaming closed backs in that price range. Beyers are known for they’re treble elevation so they should have much more pronounced highs compared to the clouds. I’m not too sure about if you need the 250 ohm or not with the 770. People suggest the 600 over the 32 ohm with the 880 but not sure if that applies with the 770.
As far as comfort, I have the 990’s which are built basically the same as the 770 and my gf has a pair of the cloud alphas. I would say that the comfort is relatively the same between the two. The pads on the beyers isn’t as comfy as the cloud off the bat but they will break in and get more comfortable.
I don’t know much about good dac amp combos to pair with the beyers in that price range so I’ll let someone else chime in with that.
Maybe the ifi zen dac? I have the can and that seems to pair well with the beyers especially lower ohm headphones in general. Would also give you an option of bass boost if you want it. I think it’s a bit over your range though.
You helped me a lot. Now im sure i will get a pair of 770 80ohm. For the dac/amp combo i think i can go few euro’s over my budget and try your zen dac.
