Well well well.. Here we are again. The EP8 came to be first when I was in the middle of doing my premium FFP LPVO comparison. I wanted that video to be scopes that were $1,000 +, but I enjoyed it so much that I figured it would be a good way of seeing how it could compare to much more expensive scopes. As it turns out, it handled itself quite well.
This new reticle, the KLG(rid) is only different from the KLB(ox) on the center part of the reticle. Going from a BDC to a more traditional Mil Christmas Tree design. Both will appeal to different people. So its nice to have the option out there. Sadly, I think the overall reticle design could use some work. Both reticles rely heavily on needing to use illumination to see the center between 1-4x. It would be nice to see this get tweaked to improve its lower magnification performance.
Optically its good. When you finally get the rear eye piece set up perfectly. I have found it to be challenging to get this perfect on camera, to the eye it is still sensitive. But you should be able to get it with proper tweaking.
For the price I think its an amazing stepping stone into the wide and expensive world of FFP LPVO’s. If your unsure whether you will like the concept or not, getting this will at least not break the bank. And if you like it or hate it. You could sell it or move it to a trainer when your ready to move onto something bigger and better, or an entirely different style of optic.
