šŸ”¶ Mangird TEA (6 BA/1DD)

This may be a random comparison to ask for but the Mangird Tea vs drop + jvc ha-fdx1? Anyone experienced both and can compare?

OK, im done.
Did anyone know, when the next Drop is going down? Couldnt find anything .

Ive seen a post where someone was talking about you cannot get the mmcxā€™s ones anymore ? Is this true ?

They are quite different, and accomplish different goals. The FDX1 is a cool sounding analytical IEM. Clarity, resolution, and detail are excellent for a DD IEM, and are more like very good BAs, yet it retains the natural sound of a DD. The upper midrange centered around 4KHz is very prominent and shouty to me, so tinkering and modding is needed usually. The included nozzles help, but I ultimately modded mine differently. The Mangird Tea is not nearly as intense of a listen. There are no offensive frequencies, but due to itā€™s tuning, it doesnā€™t present a lot of fine details. It is more full sounding, and sounds equally good with male and female vocals. Bass quantity is about the same, but I prefer the Mangirdā€™s bass as it is slightly more sub bass biased. Imaging is MUCH better on the Tea. For me, the Tea is a lot more versatile, as I can listen to and enjoy any genre of music with it.

Thank you for the detailed response.

Just as a final question, how is the fit of the tea?

It fits me very well. You can use it for deep or shallow insertion, but the nozzle is long enough for either. The Tea is definitely more comfortable and secure feeling than the FDX1. With foam tips and deep insertion, the Tea gives me the best isolation Iā€™ve experienced outside of multi flange tips. I would say that the one weakness of the Tea is with micro detail retrieval, where itā€™s tuning directly affects this quality. What you get is something you can listen to for several hours at a time w/o any fatigue.

To be honest thatā€™s kind of what I want where I can go for long periods at a time so thatā€™s good to hear and thanks the fit comparison also helps, Iā€™ll be joining the tea club soonšŸ¤™šŸ¼

Iā€™m pretty sure youā€™ll love it, as long as youā€™re not wanting a bass head IEM or a detail monster. The bass is perfect to allow for maximum midrange clarity, while having enough sub bass for a healthy foundation. BTW, clarity and resolutions are excellent.

I gotta get back into having a presence in this thread. Iā€™m finding myself listening to the Mangird Tea more and more often. It is a fantastic IEM. Not too bassy yet hits hard in the sub bass, beautiful mids and treble. It has enough detail to make listening interesting and enjoyable yet is never harsh or sibilant.

Itā€™s not a bass heads IEM and itā€™s not what I would call ā€œbrightā€ necessarily. If you can get a really great seal with the Mangird Tea, I feel it has a goldilocks tuning. I continue coming back to this thought every time I listen to themā€¦ If I could use one word to describe this set, it would be natural.

Thatā€™s good for me on the bass side of things, that description is almost perfect for what Iā€™m into

I find that Iā€™m not really into what people call the ā€œfunā€ sound signature

really interested in buying these, but itā€™s disappointing that the only retailers selling are Linsoul (which iā€™ve read has horrible customer service) and amazon (but shipped and sold by Linsoul). decisions, decisionsā€¦
two questions:

  1. any impressions of these with Final Type E tips?
  2. are theses easy to drive? i donā€™t have a dedicated DAP or amp; i play my IEMā€™s off my phone and macbook

Iā€™ve had to return my Teaā€™s back to Linsoul for a replacement. Bass impact and amount on the right was notably less and different to the left side. Iā€™m assuming this is an issue with the dynamic driver. Hopefully the process doesnā€™t take that long. Iā€™ve never sent anything back to Linsoul thus far.

I think the Tea sounds good with Final E tips, and the tips fit the IEM well. They are easy to drive, and work with a phone, but they also scale well with better sources.

Initial impressions are outstanding!
Well balanced with holographic imaging!
This is an imaging specialist IMO. It is holographic, and I like to listen with my eyes closed. I can easily picture the location of each musician in a 3D space. The excellent instrument separation also helps this, even with really complex music passages. The tuning is neutral-ish, but doesnā€™t really fit an established FR curve. I find that all genres of music sound good on it. The bass has a sub bass bias, and there is good rumble, but the quantity of bass is not a lot. I think itā€™s the right amount to be true to the music, but not embellish the bass frequencies. The midrange is just so lush and musical, w/o an upper midrange bias which is so prevalent. Both male and female vocals sound equally amazing. There is no shoutiness, no sibilance, and no harsh frequencies that I have noticed. The treble is well extended, with a good amount of air. The timbral accuracy is very good and natural sounding, especially for a hybrid IEM. Itā€™s not quite as good as some of the best single DD IEMs though. Detail retrieval is decent, but not amazing. There is some loss of detail retrieval in part due to itā€™s tuning. What you gain is a non-fatiguing sound. The resolution, however, is top notch

when i use my silicon tips i feel like they suck the air on my ear lol

Iā€™ve needed to break my Mangird Tea in for months to be able to use silicone tips. If you need to, just use foams for the time being and keep trying silicone from time to time to see if the venting has broken in enough to allow for silicone tips. I love the unique FR on the Mangird.

@stankyfanky Have you been in contact with Linsoul so far? Howā€™s the return going? Iā€™m interested in how your returning experience is (how much you pay for your return, how much Linsoul is willing to cover, etc) since I decided to make a return recently too.

I had the chance to try these out for a few weeks and quite enjoyed them! Fully agree about these being amazing at imaging.

Wrote down my thoughts and impressions here: https://www.perrivanaudio.com/post/mangird-tea-review

I recently got the MEST, and I thought it would make the Tea unnecessary and redundant for me. While there are a lot of similarities, they still are more different than I thought they would be. Regarding imaging, until I listened to the MEST, the Tea was the best imaging IEM I heard. Now, I think both are incredible at imaging, but different. The Tea seems to image 180 degrees and further back, whereas the MEST images more like 270 degrees. Vertically, they are similar.

The Tea is like listening to a well set up 2 channel speaker system, or listening to an orchestra from like 10 rows back. The MEST is like listening to a well set up 5 channel speaker system, or listening to an orchestra from the conductorā€™s position. At least this is how I perceive it. Both of these IEMs are really special, especially for their price points.

Iā€™m still in the process of shipping it to Linsoul, so waiting for them to receive and inspect it. Iā€™m not returning for a refund, but for a replacement. Itā€™s under warranty so a repair would be free if it is deemed as defective. On their site, they mention that if damage is done on the part of the consumer, then the consumer pays for repair as far as I am aware.
