Yes, I donāt go past 30 on high gain on my BTR5
No, you donāt NEED an ampā¦ they are driven easily and sound great with my iPhone and dongle, Earstudio ES100, or iFi ZenDac.
Just ordered these, what are the best tips for these? Are the stock tips good enough?
Stock tips imo are pretty good, but can confirm with others that the Azla Xelastec tips are just on another level. Take a size smaller than youāre used to as the Teas go pretty deep.
I go back and forth between these two sizes with my TEAsā¦
I prefer the semi-transparent silicone tips that are included with the Teas. The small bore opening emphasizes bass/sub-bass a bit and tames female vocal upper octaves a tad also. But hey, everybody is different.
I tried Spinfit CP100, AZLA SednaEarfit, Final Audio Type E, and some other non-descript tips laying around.
Itās really a personal choice as to how you want the TEA to sound. With the detail, clear mids, and spacious depth provided by the Teaā¦ itās definitely worth the time and effort tip rolling, no different than any other IEM actually.
Linsoul cancelled my order twice, one with paypal other with card. Still says in stock on website, what gives? Shipping to US.
Iāve spent some time trying all the different tips I can find. Hereās a pic of my favoritesā¦
The Tea tips are in the right most column, 2nd row down. Theyāre better than most stock tips but not great.
That sucks. Did you ask them why?
Those orange onesā¦they look like Spinfit 145? I tried them, but should have ordered one size larger.
A barely used set of TEA showed up on eBay yesterdayā¦ nearly pulled the trigger. They didnāt last 24 hours, somebody snatched them up. Didnāt really NEED to have two sets, lol. But man oh manā¦ at $225 it was tempting.
Yeah, they are. Green, Orange and Blue are the CP145. The blues next to them are the large size. It all depends on the IEMs insertion depth. I generally prefer CP100 vs CP145. The CP100 are thinner and give me a better seal.
Yeah, I like the fit of the CP100.
The semi-transparent ones included with TEA are very thin also, and I prefer them because the bore opening is smaller than the CP100. Azla Sednas were way too open-bored for my sound preference.
Those are some of the nicer included tips with any IEM. I found that the end of them being very flat with very little edge curve felt weird in my ear. I do like how thin the silicone is though.
I need the tips I use to have very flexible & thin silicone. Anything that is too firm and wonāt easily shape to my ear wonāt give me a proper seal.
After waiting a bit and trying a third time it worked through paypal. Mightāve been a glitch with them or my bank which is a small-ish local credit union. It seems that the first 2 times i ordered the money never got removed from my account and got canceled after an hour.
I will leave this up incase other people have the same issue.
That is the other reason I didnāt like the AZLA Sednas with the TEA. Too firm, not very flexible.
Good to hearā¦ hope you enjoy your TEAs, I sure do.
Yeah, Azla Sednas are too hard and donāt deform enough for me.
Congrats. Hope you love them. Welcome to the family.
Have you guys watched this review? In his opinion the Tea is pretty meh (3 stars), hahaha.
I am still looking around and deciding if i should get the Tea or wait for new EST options.
Got my Tea today. Couple hours burn-in on Mojo. First test track, with stock Starline tips: Ozzy - Mr. Crowley; best Ozzy I think Iāve heard overall! Nice, grunty bass. Fantastic imaging & tuning. Good or above avg clarity & resolution(not super good). They sound drier and less lively compared to FH3, but Tea is way smoother with no sharp treble, and just sounds great. More balanced and probably more full & warm. Reminds me of HD650, with less dark tuning. These definitely have good detail, but the details are subtle and laid back, not magnified and highly textured/crispy. Quite a pleasant listen. Fit is good/non-problematic for me so far. Sub-bass is definitely beefy & noticeable. Vocals very good & natural. Elec guitars sound REALLY good. Orchestral stringed instruments have lovely warmth & fullness.
Everything pretty much sounds great on theseā¦ But itās still rather dry sounding(=HD650). Cymbals are missing some sheen & shimmer. Bass could use more definition/resolution. They could definitely use more soundstage depth. Iām not a fan of the shell & nozzle materials; feels very cheap, just like they do on Penon Fan. I think these have the best elec guitar Iāve heard in IEMs so far, and are the IEM version of HD650. Iām not happy with their technical performance for $300(FD5, hellooo), but the stellar tuning/balance is far ahead of FD5. From what Iāve heard so far of Tea, Iād take FH3(and probably ZAX) instead.
So the Teas arrived yesterday. Slightly surprised how small and light they are - in a good way, relatively new to the rabbit hole so only have Starfields to compare with. Fit for me is great, they do go deeper than the Starfields but fine for me. Some rambling impressions that are probably not very informative, but hey it is what it is - these sound great, different to the Starfields in that the sound just seems more expansive and I can pick out instruments way clearer. On first listen I thought I could do with a touch more bass as itās - I donāt know how to put this - maybe āslightly more politeā than what Iām used to (hmm maybe Iām a bit of a basshead, who knew). But the more I listen across different tracks itās not that, itās just everything seems to come across as well balanced with nothing being over shadowed by anything else. Library is mostly rock/metal - some tracks that just made me stop and grin: Soundgarden - Spoonman, Rush - The Trees, Korn - Freak on a Leash, Lorde - Royals, Tool - Stinkfist, Megadeth - Psychotron, AC/DC - Rejection, Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion, AIC - Dirt, Black Label Society - Suffering Overdue, Clutch - (Notes from the Trial of) La Curandera.
On the stock silicon tips (not a fan of the foamy ones) - tried med Spinfits which really helped to open-up/clarify some of faster stuff (Machine Head/Slipknot) but theyāre too big with the Teas so a set of S now ordered. Oh and an 8 core cable from XINHS - nothing wrong with the stock cable sound wise but the right IEM connector has the black R on it facing outwards so my ocd canāt cope! Rabbit hole indeed. Shout out to @hawaiibadboy for his ājust say it how it isā review too - I really need to avoid the Clairvoyance vid
