Not much I can do about it, I mean yeah I can go right ahead and buy it blind from online, but itās gonna be my first piece of serious/pricy gear so I would really want to demo it first if I can. Iāve always had decent earphones since my dad is an oldschool audiophile so he kinda knows about what to look for.
The customer service of the shop has been great the guy responds really quick and doesnāt try to shill other products when I really am only focused on the Tea. He also confirmed to me that itās Mangird themselves or at least their official supplier that have been the problem as a supplier since apparently they canāt keep up with the demand for the Tea? Not entirely surprised on that front since they are able to list the pricing for the Tea in the usually accepted SRP of 300$ without any noticeable markup

On a semi unrelated note DD Audio on Lazada has in stock exactly ONE Thieaudio Oracle thatās ready to ship if ordered today
They are prolly also working on xenns up as well. It has a 2 week queue by this time.
Well the thing is that the shop had ordered from them a couple weeks ago, then was told theyāre on their way and should arrive around the 2nd week of September, then when I asked today the shop said that they cancelled their order, so I have no clue what to make of that.
That is linsoul. They have no oracle stock, but you can ask. I asked last week and there was a 4 week queue.
They sent me a link to their updated item page on lazada earlier this morning. I did actually ask, āIs that ready to ship?ā and they just responded a couple minutes ago and said, āyes ,you can order ,we will shipping todayā
Yeah, Iām guessing itās because of Lazada as a seller platform where they can only list things as either in stock and ready to ship or out of stock and can only be added to wishlists. They canāt have people order then put them on a waiting list unlike on their main website or AE since Lazada has a rating system based on chat response, delivery on time, and based on the reviews of the products they put up on their store there and waiting lists might count as delayed shipments which will mess with their 99%+ positive rating on the site
Ooookayā¦so now in a bit of a buyerās pickle right now and looking for some advice guidance. Probably @Resolution would be of great help here.
So I have been planning to get the Mangird Tea but demo them first in a local shop, but problems arose and it seems theyāre not gonna get them here any time soon. So I was gonna get them at the 9.9. sale over on Lazada because Iām getting a little antsy, plus theyāre going from $300 to around $270 vat and shipping included which is pretty good all things considered.
But going through Lazada had me need to go through the matriarch to buy them. Now I explained what I wanted to get and that Iāll pay for it buuuut she was quite adamant sheāll pay for it and then asked about the brand itself and to put things simply the family is quite hesitant for anything from China. She said sheās fine even spending twice or even thrice the cost of the Tea so long as Iām sure that itās quality and durable because itās gonna be an investment for something thatāll last.
So now hereās my pickle, with most budget constraints now essentially gone, within reason.
So for those that have owned the Tea how has it held up over the course of owning it? Howās the build quality held up?
Itās pretty much gonna be my daily driver if I really like it, which is basically 8-12 hours of daily use and pretty much 24/7 connected to my laptop and maybe some phone use if Iām gonna go out.
Kinda just looking for extra reassurance since budget is now freed up and I can pretty much get something like the Thieaudio Oracle or what the hell even the MEST mkII if Iām feeling really insane.
I did jump into this community looking for probably what may be the last set of earphones Iāll buy for the next 10 years and the Tea looked like a really strong choice for that, but now with a few more options opened up to me would it be worth stepping up a bit more? If not and Iām gonna stick with the Tea then whatās a good explanation to go with to ease their worries on getting something from China because even with the discount 270$ is still a fair bit for anything small and pure purpose like an IEM
Youāre all over the place man. Breathe in, breathe out.
First, build quality wonāt be a problem in any of your options on the table.
Second, youāre once again comparing horses to dogs and cats. Thereās no āthis is better than thatā in this hobby. Thereās preferences. You can discuss something has better detail or resolution, sure. But whatās your main preferences? Whatās your prefered FR? Youāre thinking about spending big boy money on something but you have to find yourself first. Trust me, blind picking costed me money a lot of times.
Third, Tea is my favourite IEM that I own. Itās probably on @Resolution top 5 as well. But anyone would be crazy to say āYou have the budget for Mest, but get Teasā.
Forth, do you know what type of driver signatures you even prefer? Like single DD vs Hibrid vs Tribid? Horses to dogs to cats.
Confused work :))) Get something cheap and then see which sound signature you will like. how did you decide that you would like Tea? how did you decide that it is good to take Oracle or Mest :))) You are very confused!
Okay, in regards to preferred FR I really prefer balanced. Like Iāve mentioned before my library consists of 95% progressive metal and power metal and rock, and most earphones Iāve had were either somewhat balanced or had bass boost, which really muddied or pushed the mids back too far.
As for detail and resolution, thatās also something I strongly consider because I would want to hear what Iām listening to in the best clarity and quality that I can get.
Lastly, Iāve only had single dynamics over the years of varying quality, so I am not entirely sure what to expect from a hybrid or tribrid
Okay okay, Iām gonna take some extra time thinking and re-reading through the thread of previous. I do got a tiny bit of a time crunch considering the 9.9 sale and that DD Audio has one Oracle in stock ready to shipā¦
And yeah, youāre completely right on manning-up and making the decision, and I will
I know I know, I got both in the cart right now and pondering which one to get rid of before checking out once midnight hits because itās a rare line up of the stars to get the Oracle without having to wait 1-2months for it, plus getting it at $500
I know you told me before that the Oracle is a clear tier above the Tea, especially when it comes to prog metal and rock. Things like detail and resolution would also be better on it with the extended treble of the EST, but then thereās where Iām wondering if Iām gonna be missing out on something special with the Tea
Iād suggest anyone to get the Tea first. Itās my #1 at tier 1. Nothing wrong with going slow and working your way up to more expensive sets. Again, the Oracle is different in that it incorporates EST drivers for the treble. Both are great IEMs. The Tea though is an outstanding IEM at itās price.
Part of the big reason for the manic is that itāll probably be a good few years before Iād consider buying another set. Hence the flip flopping between. And yeah the price is still a factor even with the budget constraints being mostly lifted.
Oh hereās a objective question, howās the size comparison between the Tea and Oracle?
