I honestly wouldnāt be surprised if the delays are tied together. They are probably manufactured in the same places. The Monoprice amp was delayed once already too. It might get delayed again.

The best thing about the delay might be that anything I buy on Black Friday can go in the same cargo forwarder shipment from the US to my placeā¦ probably no good for my wallet though.
This delay reminded me that I still need to pick up a balanced dac.
Delay doesnt bother me too much either. Its only a couple of weeks. Ive been using the 788 to hold me over. By next year none of this will matter and between smsl, monoprice, and massdrop we will have at least 3 thx desktop options. Im stoked the tech even exist to begin with.

Finally got shipping confirmation today for the order I placed back in June (June!)
lol, my SMSL Su-8 shipped from Drop on the 21. still havenāt gotten it. so unfortunately you may be waiting a little more longer.
Oh I know. They had emailed that they hoped to ship by early December, so even though the wait was ridiculous itās nice to know it is finally on its way

Finally listening on it. Running balanced from my D1. My first impression wasnāt as positive as I was expecting using my Empyreans, but then I switched over to my Andromedas on low gain and Iām very pleased. Iāve had to use an iematch since owning them to squelch the hiss that was there on literally every other source I used them on, but I donāt need to with the 789. No noise at all. Iāll be trying most of my headphones over the next few days, but for sensitive iems alone I think itās already justified the purchase.

Itās as good as advertised. I beat the shit out of it this weekend, and it handled everything I threw at it. After waiting so long I had impossibly high expectations, but for $400 I canāt see a non-THX amp beating it
It took me 3h if music to adapt to it. I was used to the liquid spark. The bass is not boosted as the liquid spark it also sounds more open.

Yeah, I wasnāt crazy about it at first either to be honest. But switching headphones and going back to ones I had already tried sold me on it. If itās not a neutral amp, itās the closest to one Iāve owned. Iāve switched DACs and noticed a difference between the SMSL D1 and the Airist R2R, but I think I will keep the D1 paired with this and use the Airist on my tube amps

good plan - R2R with tubes is what I will add to my arsenal - a OTL build is planned
I also use 2 different DACs with the THX AAA 789 - the SMSL SU-8 and the ifi xDSD(prefered with most music)
