Microphone Static

I’ve been told by others that I have static coming through my microphone. Some people say it sounds like I’m in the shower. Can someone help me resolve this?

I have:
Shure microphone sm48s
Behringer U-Phoria UM2
Monolith Liquid Spark

If you have any questions feel free to ask. Thank you.

This could be caused by many things…first though, how do you plug your mic into your pc…as in what port, where? Have you tried to record yourself and then playback to hear for yourself?

It is plugged in via USB into the back of my pc directly into the mobo. I have not tried to record myself for playback. I will give it a shot.

Edit: I recorded myself and there is noise.

If you’re going:

Mic > XLR > Interface then most likely the interface is faulty or too low quality. Swap the interface for the same make/model and see what happens. If there’s still noise, upgrade the interface for something that will give you cleaner gain.

Dynamic mics don’t give off that kind of self noise and I just doubt it’s the mic.

Does noise increase as you apply more gain, or is it noisy all the time?

Avoid buying Behringer… it’s like dating a fat chick.
