I dunno…‘hating’ Grado and being open about it is not something that would help endear me to them. being critical of a competitor product is one thing, but ‘hating’ is such an ugly word and indicates having an unbalanced view of someone / something.
go ahead, dislike something…but don’t invest so much of yourself on it, sheesh!
Got my Mirph a couple of weeks ago and I want to give you some impressions
Background
Recently I sold my SJY Horizon closed and my Burson 3x amplifier leaving me with just with a Benchmark 3 HGC DAC and a pair of HD600.
So what to do? On a wim I bought a used pair of DCA Aeon2 closed but they sounded very weird to me so they got a new home very fast. My rig is in our living room so closed backs are what I have used so far to cut out my wife tv viewing.
After some back and forth I started to look for a open back that had a sound that could handle many types of music that I often listen to from classical to metal.
During this time I stumbled on Wave Theory review of the Mirph-1
This was what I was looking for so off I went.
Comfort is very nice, large earcups, light weight and nice padding.
Some impressions
Sound is super resolved and fairly neutral out of the box but also super easy to EQ. I have done some minor adjustment so suite my earcanal and used this measurement as a guide. As you can see in this graph they go low in the bass, better than a EQd HD600.
So far I´m super happy with them.

Done some fine tuning with my EQ settings and they getting really good now. Spent yesterday evening listening to a few Loreena McKennit albums and its was such good time. Fantastic music and superb recordings makes for a good time.
