"modded"/ Hand soldered balanced cables?

Has anyone else here modded their own cables?

I’m new to this forum, just signed up today. And I’m so proud because I just successfully hand soldered my first 2.5mm balanced headphone cable. It was a cheap BLON cable with a chinese knockoff “sennheiser” 2.5mm balanced plug I got for free off of Amazon.

In the past I’ve had experience “modding” 2pin/QDC connectors. I.E: I took a razor knife to all of my KZ Aptx BT adaptors to get them to fit my BLONS, I also took a razor knife to my BLON’s to shave round off the edges to get it to fit my QDC cables.

What are some of your experiences in modding cables/connectors and what was the outcome?

Oh wow, thanks for that. I didn’t realize there was a catagory for modded cables. Nice!

Not just cables

Anything from “works!” to “let’s not do that again”

Yeahhh, I’ve broken a few pair of IEM’s that way. Good thing though is that I have spare drivers to make custom ones. Lol
