Yeah, I get your point. Itās just that I wasnāt 100% sure of what exact range of the frequency frequency was boosted/changed with the CP155s, and thus I asked for more information on the matter in other to make further EQ modifications by myself. I like my tight, fast and well-textured bass, but only when itās balanced relative to the rest of the response, so I wasnāt 100% on board with the Variationsā stock sub-bass boost and much prefered the more neutral, brighter sound of the AutoEQ preset. Iāve been ABing with the stock tips and I think itās about the same right now after doing what I described in my previous post.
And thanks! These IEMs are damn good, been having a really good time with them!
Iām currently waiting for my Variations to arrive but I was looking for a replacement cable (already)
I know itās 2-pin 0.78, which is new for me. From the photos, I see the plug holes on the Variations arenāt flush with the IEMās housing.
Some 2-pin connectors have more or less deep plastic part holding the pins. Some are quite short, but itās hard to tell from photos and I canāt seem to find measurementsā¦
Is there something to look for that Iāve missed ?
Welcome! I also just got my Variations two days ago, and donāt worry about the 2-pin, any cable thatās just 2-pin will work, just not QDC (the ones with a casing over the pins).
Itās just a matter of your preference at this point: do you want a longer stem on the connectors? Or would you like a flushed connection?
This is my Variations using a XINHS 4.4 Pentaconn with a 3.5mm adapter. As you can see, the cable only has a stubby stem/plastic part and fits snugly into the seating so the final result is a flush connection.
Btw, thanks to @nymz selling me his set, now Iām fully in love with the Variations
Thereās actually always two listings of the same cable from Xinhs in their store, and the prices fluctuate back and forth. Sometimes one is discounted, sometimes the other, and sometimes both. Keep an eye on both:
But keep in mind the 8-core is pretty heavy. Alternatively, the 4-core graphene one is also praised by many, lighter but still maintains the weight:
Theyāre at very different prices, but now that I look closer, the photos and the specs are exactly the sameā¦
On to the real choice: is the graphene cable silky smooth to the touch or a tiny bit rough?
I wear my IEMs with the cable down my back, under my shirt. I had tried smooth cables before (with my AF1120), and they just glided down, ending up pulling on my earsā¦ Hence the appeal to the sleeved ones
Hi, Iām considering buy this IEM, it will be my first pair so I have doubts about the quality
Anyone had an issue with the materials of these? Iāve read this thread and I saw a guy saying have issues with the frontal shell and the connector
I will buy on AliExpress in the Shenzhenaudio store so Iām afraid having a problem with this kind of issues and not have a good warranty
It will be in 442 USD, if anyone wanna buy it
Iāve had them. I think apart from some shells falling apart, only bad thing was some 2pin connectors cracking, but I havent seen such since the release. Just dont cable roll much and you should be more than fine.
Filters usually come off but they dont change sound.
For that price, itās an hard rec for resolution and techs, but keep in mind the tuning as well as it wonāt fit all libraries. Good luck
I read a couple of complaints, that the adapter on the cable plug has a loose connectionā¦ good thing that you can swap the cable if that happens, I guess
The 3.5mm adapter for my set (2nd hand from @nymz but he never used the stock cable) was already broken out of the box, the left side cutting out. No problem with the 2.5 and 4.4.
Im soooooo excited as I just placed an order for the Variations! Iām currently coming from Ikko OH10ās so I do hope this will be a good upgrade and I got a 11.11 discount early so got them for an amazing price!
