I mean the pads really arenā€™t going to change it that much tbh so I personally wouldnā€™t worry about that. But you can leave them running for like 3 days and they will get the larger changes out of the way, and you can just wear them normally after that if you are concerned. The first 50 hours have the most drastic changes with the cx imo

Iā€™ll do that, He said the pads because of the material need 2 days worth of play to break in the material.

Ahhh yeah that makes sense, you have to wear them on your head to get the pads to conform correctly, if you arenā€™t listening to them on your head though it wonā€™t make a difference.

The White materials take a few hours to ā€œburn inā€, they do actually change in texture.
Iā€™d follow the listen to them with the default light black material they ship with, then try one of the others, basically the heavier the material, the less the treble, lower overall volume level and the more bass.

The headphones themselves Iā€™d play them for 2 or 3 days straight. They do change sound quite considerably, but their not horrible to listen to even initially, and Iā€™d encourage listening throughout the burn in period.

Okay I will do that.

Does anyone recommend a alternative cable that removes microphonics for this headphone thatā€™s not the vivo $300 cable?

You could have a custom one made, Mr Speakerā€™s do sell the connectors, outside of that no headphones outside of the Mr Speakers ones use the connector AFAIK, so finding a cheap replacement is probably not going to be easy.

I donā€™t mind paying the $300, money isnā€™t the issue but if a cheaper one thatā€™s just as good is out there why pay the $300.
Iā€™ve only seen 1 person that has said that the vivo cable gets rid of the microphonics, can anyone else confirm this?

Thereā€™s this. Will it work for you?

People say there cables are pretty microphonic.

Theyā€™re individually wrapped so it seems unlikely, unless theyā€™re just talking about physical vibration of the cable when it rubs against something.

I am just going by a few forum threads and reviews saying it, I donā€™t doubt they make great cables I just donā€™t want to by a 100$ plus cable then have to buy the $300 cable because the $100+ cable has microphonics. I just want to know if anyone has the vivo cable and can confirm it gets rid of the microphonics.

I have the vivo cable and it does make the headphone sound better because of impedance changes. It does reduce the microphonics a bit but they are still there

Thank you I truly appreciate it, Iā€™ll try the cable it comes with it if it becomes too intolerable Iā€™ll buy the vivo cable. Might buy it anyways for the better impedence.

The cable isnā€™t terrible, I do notice It occasionally, itā€™s made worse because the connectors project down so far under the earcups.

Yeah the design of how the connectors and cables interact with the headphone cups can also determine if microphonics are present.

Hey everyone,

Iā€™m currently selling my Ether CXā€™s mine are in absolute mint condition. Theyā€™re unfortunately just not for me, the pads are barely broken in. Though the drivers are perfectly broken in as it sat connected to my amp when I was working listening to music. All original accessories come with the Ethers, bag, adapters everything etc.

Note that im in Australia, ill be happy to send these internationally and price is 850 USD. Feel free to DM for anymore details

So a new unit is only 900 on drop right now, so unless drops shipping is more then 150 dollars you will prob want to lower your asking price as I donā€™t think anyone would bight other wise.

true ill drop the asking price

you should make a post on the reddit AV exchange. hifi guides doesnā€™t have a dedicated buy sell trade section but reddit has a lot of sub forums for that sort of thing. either way its going to suck for you as shipping too and from Australia is expensive.
