Msr7 vs nad viso hp50

Hey all, im about to return my m60x’s for comfort reasons despite the sound being perfect.

So im between a second hand hp50 im being offered, or a new msr7. Anyone that has experienced 2 or even all 3 of these headphones that can give me their 2 cents?

The nad hp50 is a more flat and actually kind of wider sounding closed back, so I don’t think it will be as “fun” as the m60x. The msr7 is going to be the more average consumer sound (a bit exaggerated). Perhaps something else to look at is the new akg k371 that has a more natural tuning. I personally would pick the k371 or the hp50 over the msr7. The msr7 is very comfortable, and the nad is a bit less imo

to sum it up

Nad for more neutral sound

AT for more bright exaggerated consumer sound

k371 warmer side of neutral natrualish sound

Hmm…k371 does have a non standard cable though. What type of cable is it? Id like to be able to buy an affordable replacement without having to order from china or america.

I believe it is a 3 pin mini xlr cable that is used with alot of akg headphones

Here is a periapt cable https://periaptcables.com/products/5-type-5-3-pin-xlr-mini

It shouldn’t be to hard to find an aftermarket cable

Cheaper cable

Another one

Hmm
Cant really find affordable replacements right now, but maybe its a worthy compromise if theyre really comfy and sound good. Cable isnt the only reason im getting rid of my mm400 after all (they kept getting internal cable breakage).

You say the msr7 is very bright. Isnt the 60x also “bright”? Are they alike in sound or not? (Im rather sibilance sensitive so i /am/ wary of bright headphones. But the 60x managed to stay painless when it comes to brightness)

Not very bright, but it is brighter then neutral. The m60x isn’t as bright imo and is a bit more even in response compared to the msr7

Hmm
The same store that sold me my m60x has the k371 so i could get it switched out and see

It is pretty much trial and error to find out what you like

JayJay not sure how much those used HP50’s are, but they’re available new for $128 CAD, if you don’t mind red or white ear cups. no black left, LoL

He told me to name a price so i said 170
The black ones are 300 here so i thought thats fair
Turned out theyre the red ones which are 200 here so now im not sure haha.
