I would recommend a dac/amp combo if it’s within budget. I did notice a difference when I stopped using onboard dacs(phone/motherboard). The easiest thing to get would be the es100 since it’s portable and can connect to your phone via bluetooth, but you can also connect it to your pc via usb. Also they are pretty cheap for what you get, and I use mine more than anything I’ve bought regarding audio gear.
Also just in case the dt770 treble is too much for you, the es100 has a nifty equalizer.
Would agree on the same regard. Also @Jason_Peterson dig around for a cheaper price. DT 770s have been seen to go for around even just like $80 in their lower ohms. You will stand to gain a better sound from an amp/dac. In this case a portable DAP would be nice to have. Though you can get away with just a cheapo plug in sound card for it too just won’t sound as grand.
what would u say is the best amp/dac combo under a 100 to drive the dt770s at 80 ohms? I’ve been looking at the fx audio x6 and fulla 3. At this point idk abt portability.
I would recommend trying your motherboard first. Some of them have pretty decent circuits. If you find it not loud enough, then the Fulla 3 is an excellent budget choice.
You could of course go with the recommendation of just using your onboard audio. It should work fine in this regard and will save you money in the long run. If you are worried about portability look more into a DAP instead of a dac/amp that will sit on the desk. Most amps will drive 80 ohms just fine as thats not much in terms of demanding of power. I would only say in this case especially if you are concerned on budget to pick up an amp/dac for future headphones that are more demanding
Okay so generally if your not planning to stack up headphones or really go into the audiophile hobby and just want an 80 ohm dt 770. No, you do not need an amp. The only reason in this case especially if you were budgeting that you would need an amp is if the volume wasn’t good enough, though on pc you can make use of peace apo and use its preamp which may also fix it or just pick up a dirt cheap sound card. In terms of dacs this tends to be more necessary if you get any distortion, humming, buzzing, or feedback coming through the headphone some form of strange sounds and static as this is usually caused by the your motherboard and its corresponding units which tend to generate some interference. Dacs solve that issue while also providing a better sound quality.
Just in general you will get a better sound quality from an amp and dac and it’s better if they are seperate units but in the case of the regular gamer, not going into this hobby, just looking for his headphone at a budget? No, not necessary
You’re a beast. Thanks for being patient and explaining everything to me lol. Even though 145 is reasonable I’ll see if they get further discounted and I’ll get them. Thanks again
Of course, glad I could help. Something to keep in mind though when it comes to this stuff is to always take anything people say as completely opinion based. Audio is very subjective after all and we hear things very differently. Everyone has a difference in opinion.
I very highly recommend you Dig around. Sites like hifishark can narrow down multiple sites at once for sales, Amazon, here on the Buy/sell looking for thread, Head-fi, Ebay, USA audio mart, Offerup, Letgo, hell even pawnshops will have them. Give you an example here. I did a real fast search and https://offerup.com/item/detail/834831251/ boom theres a dt 990 for $65 in brand new condition. This is why I always say to dig around and shop smart. You can save a hell of a lot of money if you play it smart in this hobby.
