What BAs did the Blessing 2 and B2Dusk use? Because I’d say the BA timbre of either wasn’t fantastic.
(softears discussion thread on Head-Fi)
The BAs, seems to basically be them making custom orders from a BA OEM. Afaik, if its not Knowles nor Sonion, the only other BA company I know is LS/E-Audio, other than Bellsing.
I think that’s more voicing than drivers as I suspect that they’re the same mids as in the others we’ve discussed, Softears D-MID-A, and the highs are Knowles SWFK. Dusk adds a planar to the highs.
I don’t really know if the brand of BA’s mean that much anymore. I mean, there is some excellent sounding. Chinese made balanced armatures that are equal to or exceed in sound quality with some of the american and danish products.
When I hear Sonion 23 or 26 series for mids my ears perk up!
It really doesnt, implementation and the QC from the iem maker matters more.
(just that I wouldnt want them to skimp out on BA brands when it comes to the expensive stuff, thats a big F u to the customers.)
I so agree
Thumbs up and when I go to shows, I’m never blown away from the expensive IEMs. They’re good and better in many ways than lesser things and I obviously haven’t had a shot at tweaking them to preference but don’t see value there for me while I’ll spend a fortune on home kit. I’ve heard the 64 u12T many times and it’s always good but I just don’t find it as engaging as I’d like. Like their U4s as well but wouldn’t swap what I have right now. While I think they’re pretty great, there are aspects to them that I suspect I couldn’t tweak away. I need to think I’m hearing through as opposed to something to make it special for me. I can live with bad mixes or recording that don’t image being less enhanced as long as the message comes through.
All that said, I wouldn’t mind hearing a Prestige LTD at some point. Tried a couple tribreds and meh so far for me. The electrets seem a bit smoothed over so far but I suspect somebody’s got it dialed in.
