Need an equalizer recommendation

Hey guys, like title suggests looking at pulling the trigger on an actual equalizer instead of just using Peace APO. Budget let’s put this in the $200 range as I feel that should be a pretty fair range. I was already looking into the Loki and I have heard good things but I just didn’t know for certain. As you know I love V signatures and the like but sometimes I get that one particular headphone, like the sundara, where I feel the need to equalize it. Issue with Peace APO is quite a few times it causes some weird muffling or distorting in the headphones. Figure maybe I just need to pick up an actual equalizer at that point should fix any issues I have since after all peace apo is just some software. I don’t particularly think I need a good huge amount of control though. Quite new to actual equalizers so, to be completely clear I am practically clueless so any explainations on things is also welcome. My current amps I use are the Asgard 3 and Liquid Platinum alongside a Topping E30(may switch this to the modius soon cuz schiit stack) and the Bifrost 2. If theres better options I am all ears even for a more budget friendly option of course as I am not running a studio or anything

Hello,
I have buy the Loki and was satisfait with it.
Was no wasted money.
Actually not in use because new amp,and not need need with it.
All sound region are very good, and don’t Miss anything.

I have try the Apo and was not so good i find.

For $200 I believe your only real option is the Loki. The treble adjustment is set at 8k and it should meet your needs well.

I don’t think this is the fault of EQ APO. Are you reducing the preamp gain sufficiently? Also some headphones will naturally just distort if you try push them to far with EQ.

Edit.
It looks like there are more affordable options than I thought. You can get this monstrosity for $220. Although at that price, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was hot garbage lol.

Behringer MiniFBQ FBQ800 Ultra-Compact 9-Band Graphic Equalizer with FBQ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MJ406Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_8cR8Eb16XFCY4

I would assume with that price yeah probably not as good as one would think lol. I would rather go with something that someone has experience with and is more trustworthy ya know?

Yep which is odd. Don’t get this issue at my buddies but then again guy has some crazy studio equipment.

I do know this one for sure. Some headphones just are fussy with eq in general. Though I would also rather have a solid unit anyway instead of constantly having to bring up Peace and fuss with it.

would you say this is better than loki? I would expect the extra control in the bands to be better considering looking at the loki

My thing would be that yes but also it’s a cheaper “in” so to speak

I mean to be fair I could just be an idiot with this stuff? Like I said, little experience to equalizers lmao. Just watched Joshuas review on the loki and he made the comment that he doesn’t recommend it if you are using it for PC usage since you have software like Peace which is an interesting statement and I don’t find it particularly wrong. I guess I am kind of torn. I do like the idea though of having my equalizer there right in front of me that I can tinker with without having to bother with software but not sure at this point due to that review. Perhaps I am just using Peace wrong.

Will take that into consideration then. thanks

DBX makes solid stuff.
Those graphic EQs are two EQs that share a case. This lack of “stereo mode” would require you to set the same EQ curve two times.

The “meh” version would be the Behringer Ultragraph series.

Hello again,
As I said, I have been using the Loki for almost a year.
and cannot report bad things about it.
On the Fostex Mahogany, I was able to go back up the heights and add more bass, in a very short time.
Nothing to play around with annoying software and so on. It is conceivable that there are some files somewhere to download for common headphones where you can download them, but they are also purely subjective.
Nothing against YouTube testers who report on certain products.
Opinion is also subjective there.
I have often bought products that said it was so bad, not good enough, and I bought it anyway to get an idea of it myself and it was not bad at all in the end, and better than I expected, and it also has its purpose Fulfills.
I think you should as long as you live in America you also have the opportunity to send the Loki back if you don’t like it.
Of course, for someone who lives outside the border, that’s a 50:50 thing. I found the Loki really good and enjoyed it very much and could do exactly what I wanted with it.

The Belari EQ is pretty good i hear

also mindsp is really good, has lots of options:

theres a balanced version too

What do you guys think of the Rockville REQ20?

Hello,
It gives some news about?

I have unpacked the Schiit Loki again for a test system.
Strangely enough, when it is on the amplifier and the volume is on without music, I have a slight hiss when I turn it up.

When I turn it off, the noise is also gone.

Has anything changed on the market in this respect or is everything still the same?
If I search the after market, I can still find something.
But either it’s so rusted that you’d better leave it alone, or you just want too much and the price is almost not justified.

The coolest thing is something oldscool from the 90s with memory.
to save the settings.
Anyone have a tip?
