Need headphones that have enough potential for comp gaming//max out game sound engine (only for comp gaming, not music)

Guys, are there any alternative value headphones rather than dt880 600 ohm. Many people said that it can max out game sound engine//anything that are enough for comp gaming

Beyerdynamic T1, which would be the upgrade to that dt 880. Beyerdynamic DT 990 Premium 600 ohm arguably better than the 880 due to more imaging and staging but has a higher treble that is uncomfortable for some and a different sound signature. Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro, the upgraded version of the 990s. Hifiman Sundara. Sennheiser 58x Jubilee. All of these can max out a games potential.

The Beyerdynamic TYGR 300 R looks promising.

180$

Not sure if I would say that’s a value headphone lol, also not really similar to the 880 from my experience. It’s a different signature with a different presentation, a potential upgrade but not really the same here

It’s actually close enough for games, but the 990 does edge out the 880 a bit in soundstage and imaging, but imo the 880 actually does better for recreating space than the 990

I wouldn’t personally say this is the case, it’s got a fairly different signature and also a different presentation, it is an upgrade over the 990 in terms of technicalities and is nice for gaming, but not a direct upgrade. Also hard to call this one value either lol

Indeed, curious to see how it will stack up

For competitive gaming, I think the 880/990 600 ohm are hard to beat for their value, and if you grab an appropriate amp you will be just fine imo. I think you would be entering the 500 ish range for headphones alone for an upgrade if you wanted only for competitive gaming

So it would really depend, you can go with higher end headphones and get more benefit, but there is a point where it stops being reasonable for competitive gaming

you pcan go really far to “max out a game engine”
the current alternatives for that price range is the 990 and the 58x and now apparently the tygr but I have yet to hear the tygr

Same, I am really curious about the tygr. Contemplating a audition on it after I am done with the 880s

Hey now, I wanted to list those for potential upgrades. No, not value but future solutions

He did ask for alternative value headphones, not really upgrades unless I am reading it incorrectly

EH true that. In competitive I stand behind the dt 990s… In competitive gaming they are above the Sundara for me and I haven’t tried the 880 but none of the others I tried are as good for it. Fantastic practically full 360 imaging on those things makes them just phenomenal at pin pointing targets.
