So I want to buy a new pair of headphones and the price range is 250 - 400 $/€. I dont care if open or closed but it would be great if they had low impedance so that my phone is able to drive them. I already own a pair of beyer dt 770pro and fidelio x2hr and i really like my x2 so basically i m looking for “better” x2.
Well, what aspects of the x2 do you like, and what would you want to improve? I don’t think you could get them in europe, but you might be able to find a dt177x go if you wanted a more direct upgrade to the 770
I dont know since my music taste (modern metal/ core) isnt the typical audiophile stuff but i remeber just being amazed that i could hear the different Instruments so much better and the Soundstage compared to my hyperx cloud Headset. And maybe fix the high frequencys if you look at the frequency response
Hmm, so do you like the x2 more? What do you like about the x2?
Yeah definitly would choose the x2 over the 770 because the in my humble opinion the 770 dont have enough room and energy + my ears sweat in the 770
Hmmm, I can’t really think of a direct upgrade to the x2, and also you want them to be open (to avoid ear sweat) and also be able to be driven by a phone. I think the akg k712 pro might be good upgrade, wide with more detail and a more refined sound signature (although less bass but it still is good) but it does need an amp to get the best of it. I think the audioquest nighthawk carbon would be pretty sweet imo, and actually might be a good choice if you can only use a phone
Thanks I will check them out and you can propably eq the missing Bass.
If you really want the bass, I do think the nighthawk carbon may be for you now that I think about it. The nighthawks are wider and warm, with impactful bass too. They do need to be used a fair bit for a few days to burn in and for your mind to get used to the signature, because typically people’s first impressions are meh, but then after use they like them alot more
What about the akg 812 pro ?
Is that in your budget (it sure isn’t in the US)? Also that’s quite a jump lol. Personally they aren’t my favorite but if you can find one in your price range it would be a good deal. I would assume you have to look used. I would research the sound of them though as they aren’t really aimed at casual listening
I listen to Metalcore mainly as my top genre, and the Nighthawk Carbon is my favorite headphone for that genre. Certainly enough bass, and they sound really nice and wide, yet you don’t lose detail in the cymbals at all.
EDIT: They are also very easy to drive, run off my phone no problem.
Hmm, that’s a fair bit cheaper compared to the us lol. Also note they are very amp picky and may be decent on a phone but really an amp would be something you would want down the line. They are very clear and detailed, good width too, but a bit bass light for most people. But be aware you would be buying AKG’s TOTL and you would want to pair it with a TOTL amp and dac in the future
Thx again off for now
This is unfortunate… I think these are still my preferred headphones… went back to them after many days exclusively using the 4xx
Fidelio X3 is coming soon. There haven’t been much news about them for 2 months.
Yeah, stuff kinda just dropped off. I should say there is no direct upgrade for now lol
I gotta admit it slipped from my mind, and I don’t typically consider upcoming products unless they are actually to a point where you know they will be available
You’re forgiven lol
