What would you consider a upgrade to the SU8? I want a neutral sounding DAC.

Hmmmm, I think perhaps while it isn’t the most neutral out there, the bifrost 2 is a great value imo, you might be able to find them used near that. Figuring you want balanced. The soekris 1321 is also something you might be able to find

hmm. what about delta sigma?
DX7 is the only Delta Sigma I’ve seen that I would consider. I still recommend ladder DACs… they’re so awesome.

I would personally again recommend the step up to multibit/r2r for a significant upgrade, as imo to get a significantly better sounding sigma delta dac you would want to spend more than that

Does it matter with the RNHP what input i use? RCA vs XLR?

XLR is preferred, but at the moment I am using rca with it and it’s just fine

I don’t have balanced cables for my RNHP yet.
So… totally waiting for Schiit to update the Gungnir S/D with 4499 to compete with the monoprice. And with new Schiit products knocking it out of the park, I got a feeling I’m going to enjoy what’s coming.
Ok so i got:
Schiit Bifrost 2 for 700$ used for probably 450$ has XLR
Schiit Bifrost 1 used for 200$
Soekris 1321 for 450$ new dont see one used anywhere
Artist R2R for 300$ used
I dont see a XLR connection on the Soekris 1321. theres xlr on the 1541 but its 1300$ I coud get a Bifrost 1 for very cheap 200$ used
Yes it’s single ended only
The bifrost 2 tend to go used for around 550 I think

What about a Bifrost 1? i see a lot of gen 5’s on ebay
That’s also single ended only if that bothers you, it’s pretty nice but not as impressive as the 2 imo

I dont really care about XLR. So you think the Bifrost 2 sounds the best? Would a Bifrost 1 beat a SU8?
