I just bought the Arya stealth headphones to use on my computer for playing games and playing around with some music.
I bought a DX3pro+ for a dac/amp but it doesn’t seem to be enough.
I’m 50 with some hearing damage, so I need a boost to the lower end. Right now just using the dx3 I’m lacking lower bass but when I turn up the volume to-10 I can hear everything. So it feels like I’m just under powered.
I know I need to make a change, so I was thinking of either a Geshelli amp and dac or trying a schiit stack with an eq.
I just don’t know enough, and if I need to change headphones I think I still can, but I love the fit and feel of the Arya’s just hope I can get the bass to be more present and punchy
Thanks in advance to any advise

Are you sure that it’s set to high gain? You should have enough power, I’ve had both before. In low gain it wouldn’t be loud enough.
Welcome to Hifiguides!
While I do love my Arya Stealth, I will admit that they are not very impactful when it comes to bass when powered by most amps. My main solid state amp is currently a Schiit Audio Mjolnir 3 which is able to bring some more low end to the Arya Stealth, but I would not recommend that amp to someone just starting out.
If you are okay with a Hybrid Tube amp, I would recommend a Schiit Audio Vali 3 paired with a Modi Multibit (Provided that your budget allows it). To my ears the Vali 3 has almost as much grunt as the Mjolnir 3 which allows it to drive the Arya Stealth well (it brings the bass, and slam).
All and all Schiit Audio amps in general pair well with the Arya Stealth. If you purchase a Schiit Audio stack (amp and DAC), and you decide that you still need a bit more bass then you can always add a Loki mini for tone controls.
Whichever route you choose, your ears will be the deciding factor.
Good luck, and Happy Listening!
No. I didn’t know I could change the gain
Thanks a ton for your reply. I will look into these this week.

Np, I hope you find a combination that works for you.
What about the Midgard or tyr for the amp?
I don’t have personal experience with the Midgard, but I do hear good things from owners . Are you talking about the Lyr Hybrid tube amp?

Edit: if you are talking about the Tyr power amp, that is for speakers, and is only one channel so they are meant to buy in pairs. I do power some headphones via speaker amps, but that is a rabbit hole you need not travel. lol
Yes, just use the remote, or press the volume button which works like a jog wheel to bring up the menu and use the wheel to roll through the options. Go into high gain, and you’ll have all the power you need for those.
You could stay in the Hifiman family and get the EF400 or EF500 as well
Sorry I meant lyr
But willlook for the high gain setting on the dx3

The Lyr has lots of power, but some owners have stated that they prefer the sound of the Vali 3 over its bigger brother. The benefits of the Lyr is that it is also a solid preamp with a remote if you decide that you want to get self powered speakers for your desk setup later on. Its volume control is also more precise over the Vali 3.
Granted that if you are looking at that form factor, then the Jotunheim 2 is also a good unit to consider. The only thing to mention would be that you would need to buy a dual 3.5mm to 4pin XLR headphone cable to get its max power output. It also doesn’t have a remote vs the Lyr.
Any of the above Schiit Audio options require the purchase of a DAC and interconnects (RCA or XLR cables). The only exception is that the Jotunheim 2 has the option of adding a internal DAC card, but it only has USB support. Since the DAC card (multibit version) is nearly the same price as their Modius, I would suggest getting the Modius over the internal DAC. It really depends on how much you want to spend. Our recommendations might change depending on your budget.
