I am thinking of buying some open headphones. One of my main requirements is that they are COMFORTABLE for long periods of time and my budget is between 300-350.
I usually listen to metal and edm and play some games.
I usually like the headbands, I already had a K7XX and found it very comfortable despite being meh in terms of sound.
At the moment I have 58x and after a while I start to feel some discomfort.
Are the 400i better and more conofortable than the 4xx from massdrop ?
My main options right now are the Fidelio X2, the K712 and the Hifiman 400i but im open to other options as well.
I personally like the comfort strap design of the 400i better than the older style headband of the 4xx, but it depends on the person
If you like the kxx, the k712 makes sense imo as I think it would be something you know you would find more comfortable and would also have better sound quality than the kxx
What do you find uncomfortable about the 58x? I had the 400i and they are not more comfortable for me in the least. If its the clamping force stretch that bitch out. LOL.
the headband on the 58x It is very thin, for example in the 400i as the headband is wider the weight should be better distributed and will be more comfortable. I think
The X2 are any good comparing with these options ? Atm my main options are the k712 or the Dt880. I need to search more but they might be to bright for my tastes
I think the k712 would be less bright compared to the 880
A strange recommendation but something that could be hit or miss is the audioquest nighthawks. Very very comfy imo, and great build. Sound is darker but can be very strange. But it is a either love it or hate it thing (after you acclimate yourself to the sound)
X2 HR would be what I would go for improved fidelity and quality. they are darker than both really enjoyable bass , very comfortable , smooth highs overall.but fidelity wise a little weaker the the 712 and noticably weaker in terms of resolve than the 880 due to the lack of highs
