New LSA headphones priced to compete w/Kennerton?

Forgot to buy cbd when I went to the city today and I had run out. So I was feeling a bit uneasy through the day. Took these sons of bitches out and listened to some Marika Takeuchi and it really really helped me just chillax. Also I was mostly listening to kpop and ballads and hip hop recently but listening to some more classical stuff i noticed that even the piano timbre is ridiculously good. I’ve always had new headphones that tonality or timbrewise sound particularly better with specific instruments. But never experienced a generally better timbre on instruments across the board. Also even if the sound signature is fairly fun and alive because of the way they just send music accros your head it can also be a very relaxing headphone

Got the HP-2 Ultra’s in the mail today and been listening to them for a couple hours. Really digging them, definitely keepers. Shoutout to @DDT for the rec and @Bmn1251 for the sale.

Enjoying them?

Yes, I’m enjoying them very much. Probably the most detail I have heard to date and a very nice neutral sound to my ear. There is something about the way they pull out quiet subtle sounds that were almost hiding behind other sounds and allow you to hear them clearly. The soundstage is very wide for a closed back and it is very well arranged. On good recordings everything has its place with plenty of air around each instrument to distinguish every sound. I’ve especially been enjoying acoustic tracks and folk music. I’m not quite sure but I think it’s because of the timbre and vocal clarity coupled with the detail. Things feel very natural and lifelike to me.

I’m barely into the recommended break in which I’ve heard is pretty important on these so maybe they will keep getting even better? Time will tell.

Please do update once you feel like you’ve got enough break in! I’m also looking at grabbing one!

My :zebra: brother! Yes I think these are my favorite headphone so far as well. Honeymoon period still applies but they are unquestionably a very good headphone. I’m pairing them right now with my Chord Mojo and it does a great job in my opinion. I’ll probably start building a desktop stack again soon and I’ll be very curious to see how these perform with some desktop gear.

Just stopping by to say I’m still enjoying the HP-2 VERY much. These are keepers. The amount of detail and the lifelike sound of instruments and vocals just keeps impressing me track after track. When listening to my favorite songs I keep thinking to myself things like “never heard that before” or, “I didn’t know that’s what that instrument sounded like.” These are what I imagined a high end headphone would sound like and they make me smile.

The soundstage is also a strangely wonderful thing to experience in a closed back. For an office dweller like myself this is a gift. They also isolate well enough for me and don’t bleed much sound outside at reasonable listening volumes. All this combined makes them my easy office recommendation if you are shopping in this price range. Plus they come with a nice bag for carrying them back and forth.

I did have a minor issue with my first set. One of my cups was set a little too high so that it bumped the gimbal when it would swivel and sometimes it would get stuck. So I contacted Walter at Underwood and he took care of it no problem. I shipped my set back at no cost and he quickly shipped another replacement set back to me. So I’m starting the burn in period over again from square 1. Curious to see what happens with these over time.

Also I’m starting to wonder if the HP-2 is actually tuned a little more neutral than the Gjallarhorn. I have heard the Gjallarhorn described as dark and bass tilted but I don’t really get that with the HP-2. I hear them as very neutral with maybe a sub bass emphasis if anything. Mid bass does not feel elevated to me, although it’s still nice and impactful. Maybe some of this will change after burn in, but even if it doesn’t I don’t care. These are great right now. I’m also driving them straight off my Chord Mojo so maybe that has something to do with it as well. The Mojo has no problems driving them (I’m still in the red volume area which is pretty low) but I wonder if a different DAC / amp would push the HP-2 toward a thicker, darker sound. I plan on picking up a desktop amp again soon, so I will be curious how that changes things. I’m looking at re-buying the RNHP since I enjoyed it in the past and it seems like a logical choice since the HP-2 is so efficient.

Other random thoughts: I’m not a huge fan of the cable. It’s built really nicely and even has Kennerton branding on all the connectors and a cute leather tie with the Kennerton angular heart punched into it, but… it’s very microphonic in my experience which transfers sound very readily to the wood cups. The section above the Y-split also perplexes me. It’s like the cable used above the split is just as thick and rigid as the rest of the cable, which wouldn’t be a big issue except I feel like they are too short. I had a Hart cable left from when I used to own the Elegia so I swapped that on instead and it solved the microphonics and ergonomics issue for me. Since I plan on keeping these for a long time I will probably spring for a higher end cable once I get my source gear fully sorted out.

So those are my thoughts after owning these for a bit. I feel like I can sit back and enjoy these and be content that I’ve caught the closed backs I’ve been chasing for a while. I’ve said similar things before but I think I really mean it this time guys! (Really!)

RNHP pairs pretty well with my Gajallarhorn, it has really good tonal balance and retains the speed

That’s what I like to hear!

I feel at some point you’re gonna pick up the Gajallarhorn to compare, lol.

Actually, I think it has to do with the cups. The Gravedigger is also microphonic and some other cables I’ve tried have been similar on it. The stock cable was actually the least of them.

Ha! That is a distinct possibility. But it would be to choose between the two, not keep both. My curiosity might get the better of me at some point.

Interesting. I wonder if the Hart cable does well because if how soft and flexible it is above the split. I’m thinking the more rigid a cable is the more sound it might transfer. Just a theory.

noiceeeeeeee glad to hear how much you are enjoying them. And that we 100% steered you into the right direction haha. And yessssss, so far i too have only had 3 headphones that i absolutely loved to the highest degree and seperated themselves from the reest of my gear LCD2PF, Focal Clear, and the LSA HP2-Ultra Zemrano (Zebra Gang). The Hp2-Ultra in particular has the absolute best timbre not just of vocals (which is the main thing i pay attention to) but basically every single instrument sounds so close to life it’s ridiculous. And yessss vocals on it are amazing, detail, stage, those really are the best things about the Hp2

Not personally a big fan of HAC tbh I found it a bit stiff and if you’re remotely open to the idea that cables may change sound I think the HP-2 deserves slightly better cables like the Gravedigger mentioned

Of course! I wanna hear more ppl describe the differences between the two, lol
