Ok, I feel I have to give an update on the surround with the redscape audio. Shadow of the tomb raider has a scene where somebody is buried in a cemetery and you have to find them multiple times. This part actually did impress me. I was able to almost instantly detect where they guy was buried and I was even able to tell that the voice was coming from below and how the angle changed as I approached. That was really uncanny.
It wasn’t approximative guess either, it even gave me somewhat of an idea of how far away he was after I got situated. It wasn’t the kind of experience I was looking for, where you got to turn around in RL because you thought it was outside of your headphones, but after that I cannot bash the surround implementation. That was scary precise.
