Newbie needs advice on his first HiFi

I decided to purchase my first HiFi headphone/IEM, did some research and come to the conclusion that I should probably either buy Tin T2s or ATH-M40x but I can not decide which one should I pick. I listen to electronic, black metal, rock, classical and a little hip-hop – usually while outside – and I play piano. I don’t want an amp or DAC. I mostly use my android phone with ViPER4Android and Ainur.

Well, I was not good with earpods that came with my iPhone. Couldn’t use them for more than 20 minutes because they were hurting my ears and I don’t want that to happen if I go with Tin T2s which is why I have M40x as my second option. So I’m stuck here and since I can’t try them before buying, I thought I could ask you guys here about your opinions. Thanks for any help.

So do you actually prefer headphones or in ears? You can go either way and get good sound, it would depend on what fit you prefer. Iems are typically more convenient for portable

I want in ears for portability but I don’t know if I would feel comfortable with them. I just hope that it won’t be as bad as earpods.

It will be a sizable improvement over airpods imo. What type of sound do you like? Do you want something warmer and more thick sounding with more bass, or something a bit brighter

hmmm, earpods are typically not that uncomfortable. And the tin t2s are definetly not known for comfort, honestly iems are definetly more portable and more on the down low but i would say that you should go for the headphones (m40x) if comfort is that big of a concern. I personally haven’t had any comfort issues with the tin t2s but honestly i never wore them for more than two hours in a row. I don’t know how comfortable the headphones are however, maybe someone can attest to them

Iems really depend on your ear for comfort tbh

It sounds like you might enjoy a final audio e3000

as a big fan of the 755 I will warn you ther cable is short AF like down to your chest area short so if your not into modding a better alternativve with a better longer cable that sounds almost if not the same is the MH 750

Yeah I think if you don’t mind putting a few bucks in just to try out IEMs the Sony’s are a good ‘testing ground’ - just for you to get a feel whether you’d actually be comfortable with in ears before committing to something pricey.

The cables of e3000 doesn’t look that good and I’m not into modding. mh755 looked too much of a downgrade compared to others but maybe I could try them out and see if I am comfortable with IEMs as a starting point, huh?

That would be a good choice. Personally I don’t mind the cables of the e3000 but I can see how it can be a turnoff for some

The MH755 are real sleeper IEMs because they cost like $5 and come as something you’d chuck after you’re done with your meal, the cable is short and not detachable, build is really plasticky but the sound is pretty good and definitely an upgrade to the earpods.

I’m thinking if you find that IEMs aren’t for you, chucking the $5 won’t hurt as much as the $50 you’d be spending on the T2’s.
