As the title states, im getting curious as to what would be a good upgrade from T60RP and Argon MKIIIs under $1000. The Sendy Aiva may be a competitor judging by some reviews, but then there are also some reviews that did not like them. What else out there would be a good upgrade with similar or better detail?
This is also a question on my mind. Where do i go next coming from the Argons Mk3? Open back hp suggestions needed. SendyAudio Aiva is also an option, im just wondering why i dont see a thread for those here.
I don’t completely understand the different terms for sound signature so thats a little tough for me to answer. I like the detail of the T60rp. Id say I’m probably considered treble sensitive. Want something “fun” but also with good detail.
You won’t get better detail under $1k than Sendy Aiva as far as I’m aware. Have you heard/do you have Argons? They still have good detail, but are probably the most fun I’ve heard so far. Vokyl Erupts are supposed to be like argons but even wider soundstage and more efficient–>easier to drive.
For anyone interested, i decided to go with the Neumann ADH 20s. It was between the Sendy Aiva and the NDH 20s and there was just something about the Neumanns and that were speaking to me. I just started listening an hour ago, and i can already say with 100% certainty that i am hearing things in songs that i have never heard with any of my other headphones (Argon MK3, T60RP, Sennheiser 58x, M40x, B&O H6, SHP 9500s, Monoprice Retro, Status CB1). The absolute best and most apparent example of this is with Amber Rubarth’s Sessions from the 17th Ward album. I hear car horns waaaaaay in the background of some songs at a volume level id consider lower than my normal listening volume. These things are already mind boggling an hour in. Buy them.
I definitely get what Zeos was saying about the cables, but so far i dont HATE the coiled cable. Definitely not ideal but tolerable. Straight cable is hanging up to hopefully loosen it up a bit.
Im also curious about these (Neumann) HPs as i just watched Zeos gave them a glowing recommendation. I kinda like its looks too but im not gonna lie, purely on looks i still prefer the Aivas or even HPs like the Ananda. Sadly i cant comment about its sound as no stores in my area has them currently. Most importantly they are closed back, having the Argons, i dont see myself going for a closed HPs any time soon. Will continue to monitor reviews of HPs but at the moment my top contenders are the Aiva and Ananda.
My “next step” in headphones after my Argons in July/August would be, if the Argons are what I have been told, would be to sell my 6xx and purplehearts and save for a couple months and pick up Ether CX’s and HOPEFULLY pause there until some major technological advancement of some kind occurs.
@liquid801HLM I actually have the same plan which is after the Argons i’ll purchase just maybe 1 or 2 HPs (open-backs) before the year ends and stop temporarily.
@dnalekaw i really do love the appeal of those ZMF Auteurs specially since they’re open-backs but im not sure if i’ll be willing to spend that much on sa single HP at the moment. With those funds, im more inclined to get an under USD 1K HP and a balanced DAC & AMP combo.
The Neumann Ndh20 has made me feel completely okay selling off probably 3 of my other sets. Probably going to keep the Argons, t60, and b&o h6 for travel and sell everything else.
Focal Elex. THE DETAIL. Eff me. It’s so good. It also has really good dynamics and bass response. The imaging and soundstage are very good. It’s really the total package for me. I haven’t heard a better sub $1000 headphone.
