No amp required

Well the 58x is ordered already and I still have no amp  so I’ll go from there… nice to know the opportunity is there in the future though

I mean some still end up preferring the 58x because of the signature so I don’t really think you are missing out too much lol

I don’t think the 600/650/6XX would be a good upgrade from the 58X, rather get an Elex imo

Do you have experience with any of them?

Me? No

Sorry for the confusion I was asking @Spech

Obv no, xD the 600 series just doesn’t seem like enough of an upgrade over the 58X, the way the Elex does

It might seem like that, but if you end up preferring the senheiser signature, the 600 or 650 on a tube would offer more enjoyment than the elex if you are really sucked in by the senn sound with the right music imo. I would agree the elex is an upgrade for sure, but it really depends on what you end up liking

Curious how the 599 and 58x compare? 599 is on sale for $99 cnd (70ish usd)

Tbh even at that price the 58x is just kinda the better headphone. The 599 have a more consumer tuning with worse technicalities than the 58x. The 58x also has better build and comfort imo, and overall upgrade

Numbers are confusing… so with very little research it appears the 58x is more akin to the 600 line from sennheiser?

Yes, but the tuning is different and I don’t think it’s on the same level technicality wise as the higher end senns, but it is closer to the 6xx series headphones, with the tuning closest to the 660s. Build is almost identical though

So I didnt make a terrible decision lol good to know

Its a pretty good choice imo, I don’t think you will be disappointed lol
