1 Year / 100k views / Reveals
15th of June 2021 was the day I decided to create this account on HFGF just for the sake of it. 6 days later I was doing my first post. Couple days after that, I had my Mangird Teas. By August I had bought a couple more IEMs including my first real budget experience with Mele. By September I had tried Mests and U12T and I’d tried my fourth tribrid (three of them bought).
Blood, sweat and tears were consumed to achieve two simple goals: know more everyday and help people by giving advice or free stuff. Thankfully, the payoff was only sleep time to achieve those and that’s a price I can still pay… for now.
I started doing reviews (more consistently) this year, around January, and to see what I’ve had the chance to try and learn is beyond any expectations and one of the fastest rises ever. This gave me the opportunity to loan sets, give samples away and most importantly, do better for this community. I had the chance back then to throw money out of the window on recommendations that would never fit my tastes or my library to figure out my own path, but most people don’t, and that is the second most important reason I still write up to this day, only shadowed by music, at it always should be everyone’s priority (and not gear).
“Started from the bottom now we are here”, as Drake would say. From a Portuguese fella with no credentials to a cult leader who also bakes, this would never be possible without any of you: those who like me, those who don’t, those who are reading this. And for that, an enormous thank you for helping me reach 100k views on this thread in less than a year.
The biggest thank you goes to the people in the shadows, as I’ve always said I’m just a face of a Cult as a joke, for a lot of time and somewhat still to this day, that still applies. People like @Tfaduh @igor0203 @Godria @PopinTeddy have been the backbone of my progress, constantly feeding input or gear to raise my levels. I usually say that I came for the music, got addicted to the gear but only stayed for the friends I made. But the list doesn’t stop here, as many people in these forums kept helping and reaching out, making it possible for me to test even more gear and loan sets to test as well. If we grow as one, this place can only become better and better.
The last special thanks goes to the biggest reviewer on this website that always came in clutch, never asking for anything in return and seeing my potential since the start. Thank you @hawaiibadboy .
Now, as a retrospective, I feel I have changed or at least my tastes did. I can enjoy other signatures nowadays, appreciate what’s good in something and see beyond my own enjoyment. I’ve been told that being objective also takes maturity, so I guess that’s what this is all about.
Speaking of maturity and growing up, there’s something else that will change my life as a human being and as a reviewer from now on: I’m joining the new trend, the father’s club. And I was crying about sleeping only just a little, right?
This is one of the reasons I’ve been lacking output in the past weeks. With this radical and unplanned but happier than ever change, my output will shift as well, trying to focus on better stuff, quality over quantity.
Speaking of quality, there was always only one set that still kept crossing my thoughts at night, the best set I had ever demoed until today: The famous 64a U12T. By now it was a dream of a mirage already, so thanks to one of the most beautiful creatures in Slovenia for a hookup, I gave him the greenlight to close a deal on my behalf, just half an hour I found out I will be a dad. Not sure if destiny, faith or pure dumbness, but it had to happen.
So here we are, almost 1 year after I’ve tried it and I did get, once again, shivers in the first 20 seconds of trying them out. We have peaked and we can finally close this chapter. Now it’s time to trim the collection but man, I’m a proud owner of my sets. It’s also time to play catch up while I can.
To summarize, a giant thank you to everyone reading this and remember a cult isn’t a person or a face. Tea Cult isn’t mine, isn’t yours, it’s all of us.
With love,
nymz, the daddy
